This is very thin--no padding at all. I used it on the couch for a while, and on the floor where my dog likes to sleep. She still gets hot. And the thing is so slippery it doesn't stay in place. Was also not large enough for my 68lb dogs.So I used it for a while--on a chair. Since I'm always hot. I sat on it and draped i over the back too. I think it made me sweat more. And it's slippery--both to sit/lay on and on the bottom, so it won't stay in place.I think it's somewhere in the house being used folded up under a cat bed to give extra cushion.

I hate days that are humid but it is not warm enough for the AC to run. My puppy curls up, unaffected, on her cool pad and goes to sleep. The pads provides just enough cooling to keep her happy.I am going to tell you a little secret. I has surgery on my ankle that failed and I used Giant's cool pad for me and my ankle felt better.My puppy,Ginny, has three pads for different rooms so she was happy to share. We both would recommend this pad.

It is still cold and with today's heat prices I am not keeping my house as warm as I used to in the previous years. My older cat though seems like she may be going though phases as she likes to either curl up in her bed or lay down on this mat, which from what I've noticed seems to stay pretty cool to the touch. I didn't get to wash it yet since my cat only used it a couple of times so I am not sure how it will be after multiple washes. I may need to circle back if I notice anything out of the ordinary but for now it seems to work as it should.

One side is soft and the other is mesh. On hard surfaces it slides all over. My dog was laying on it, tried to stand, the pad slid out from under him and down he went and the pad went into the garbage. Thank goodness he really didn't get hurt but don't take the chance and buy one if you have solid flooring.

This cooling mat did feel cool to the touch, but it's really just a piece of thin slightly lined silky material. My big black dog get hot quickly and she did lay on it one very warm day, but only because I told her to. She never went back to it on her own. Would not recommed.
