I wonder how long it will take my neighbors to notice the plugs I've been swapping in their yards? This thing makes it too easy...I'm still trying to come up with my supervillian name..."The Yard-plug Bandit" has a nice ring to it...

Build quality is superb! The metal is thick and covered in good quality hammer enamel, yet in the same time it is lightweight.I was suspicious of handle coming in two pieces, yet it is built like a tank, definitely not an issue.Round shape and pronounced teethe make plug removal easy.I have clay soil, yet it was not hard to get it into even compacted and dry parts of the lawn.Very good tool and seems to be built to last!

I ordered two different pluggers and this is the better one because of the ease in removing the plug from the barrel using the foot pedal. The other plugger has a rod that you push from the top, and it was SO difficult getting the plug out.The only issue is one that may be common to all such pluggers: sometimes the plugs just don't come up out of the ground. Perhaps it's a matter of moisture or lack thereof. Don't know. But if you want a plugger, this would be the one I would recommend. The foot pedal make it so easy to remove the plug.

I needed a sod plugging tool but I was also looking for something to help remove unwanted onion grass bulbs. This great sod plugging tool accomplishes both with ease. The metal construction is solid and built to last. Easy assembly. The design is easy to use and removes the perfect sod circle to transplant healthy grass - like a golf hole! The tool functions exactly as describe and you don’t even have to bend over. It also works to remove the top few inches of soil if you want to rid garden areas of undesirable bulbs like onion grass. I have a major battle going on at my house and the onion grass is winning. But now that I have this tool, I’m excited to gain some ground (😉)against the invaders!

This sod plugger is a nice balance between being made of very sturdy metal, yet light. I can’t image me breaking it. It’s 33 inches tall, and just the right height for use without bending over (I’m 5’10”). Instructions for assembly were easy, with two threaded bolts to put in the bottom and two nut/bolt combinations for the handle, and rubber grips to put on for the handle. Rubber handles stay put. A Phillips head screwdriver and either plyers or an 8mm – 5/16th wrench is needed to hold the nuts. Takes less than 5 minutes to unpack and put together. The outside step (left or right) is used to push the plugger into the ground, and the resulting grass plug pushes up the ejector. A little twist the be sure the plug is free, lift, and then eject the plug by stepping on the center petal. So simple. I’m transferring centipede grass from a nice stand in one part of the yard to other areas. I make a series of plug holes where I want centipede, take those to the centipede area where I take centipede plugs, then reverse the plugs into the holes. So fast and easy! I like that the holes are about 3 inches in diameter – seems like just the right amount to successfully root new grass – and be unnoticeable and filled in quickly from the centipede patch). If there is a con, I’d say its that the width of the ejector petal arch is 4 inches – perfect space for my size 11.5 tennis shoe to fit in approximately 3 inches but someone wearing large boots might have trouble getting a comfortable push on the ejector. It takes only a tiny amount of pressure though, so this might not be an issue even with large boots. I love this plugger – will be using all summer before every good rain.

I have another sod plugger (square type). Even with sharpening the sides, I could barely put a dent in the clay soil. So, I was really interested to see if a circular plugger would work better.First, this unit is made of steel. I did have a concern as the plugger comes in several pieces, and you bolt the handle to the bottom assembly. The unit feels sturdy, but I wonder if twisting the plugger might snap the bolts. They're not big.The plug section is circular, with sharp teeth on the bottom. I tested on recently-rained soil, and the plugger cut through the grass and dirt like butter. Stability and heft were good, and this unit has a foot plunger that pops the plug out of the unit.Easy to do. I start with the areas that I want to plug, extract the dirt plugs, and then attack the grass. The grass plugs fit neatly into holes I dug in the bare dirt. The dirt plugs are swapped with the hole where the grass was. This is definitely a time saver. I only left four stars, as I haven't tried the plugger on dry, summer-baked dirt. I'll edit in a week or two and leave my comments on tougher soil types. But so far, so good!EDIT: May 17th update. This thing is a beast with dry, baked soil. The teeth make the difference. I did have to rock back and forth a little, but the unit took my full weight and pushed right through the clay soil. Quality is good - pushing close to 100 plugs so far. Raised to five stars.

This slogger tool is tall. At over 5 ft. This thing is so easy to use with the peddle that you don't have to bend down to take the dirt out of it. You press the lever in the middle and the dirt chunks pop right out. This thing has great functionality to it and being sharp enough to cut threw grass and weeds and roots this thing is worth having in your gardening kit. It's not terrible expensive and it's not plastic. It's metal. You can use this to plant shrubs for spring. It paid for itself already. Dunno how I functioned without it honestly. I won't be without it ever again.

I plant flowers every year. Getting on my knees and digging takes a toll. This sod plugger tool helps a great deal. It was straightforward to put together (I had some help though). I was able to complete a whole row of Zinna bulbs against my fence in the back yard.
