I'm on about my 3rd or 4th one of these. They work for about a year or less, and then break. Good temporary fix. Wish I could find a stronger repair kit.

Ordered this part for my 2001 BMW 325i, The first piece that slides in will not fit as it is too large. The 2nd piece that is used for a Left Driver Door fits in, but will not allow clip to lock everything down. The spring isn't compressed enough to fit into the middle of the 2nd piece as well. Even trying to mix and match with my old pieces that weren't broken, I could not get this to fit due to the 2nd piece not allowing the clip to be put on. This piece was also a different color then the rest (Mine had the piece for the Right Driver Door as well which wasn't in the description).Update: Was sent a warranty kit. 1 piece was still to large and did not fit. 2nd piece for the left hand door, the inner part was to large and would not slide into the lock. The right hand door piece would slide on, but would not allow the spring to fit in. Mixing and matching pieces from my original, 1st kit and 2nd kit i was able to put it all together. However when I put the key in and turned the lock, it seized up and trying to free my key from the lock ended up breaking the 2nd piece.

Im so glad i fixed this issue myself and saved me tons of money! If your looking at this then i know you have the same issue i did with my E46. Get it and follow instructions on Youtube and youll be glad you did yourself a favor. Easy to do and i was done within 15mins.

Easily fixed the problem at a fraction of the cost of buying an entire lock cylinder at BMW. No instructions came with it and videos on web are not so clear, ([...] [...] so when taking apart lock, keep key in, go slowly and take photos at each step. In particular, to see the spring orientation. I needed someones extra hands to slip in the retainer while compressing the spring. I replaced ONLY the broken piece, re-using the spring, and other components, which I think assures a better, exact fit. The other parts can't wear out. I cleaned everything and then used bearing grease, door now unlocks far easier than it ever has. Before you repair, if you are locked out of the car, climb in through the trunk and use the unlock button to get access to the door. To lock, sit in the backseat, push lock and use back seat door to get out.

The par that was only used for the left side was smaller. I compared it to the right hand side part. It was not able to the other parts.

Went on perfectly. Just save the original oem spring the replacement one is just tough to install. But as for the overall package save yourself tons of money and just buy this kit instead of going to a dealership .

One day the lock just cracked and the key spun through. A quick search online led me here and this was the prefect fix for my broken lock on my 2001 325i driver's side lock. Really easy fix too!
