So there were 2 Dorman doors that fit my truck. I ordered both. This one is interesting because it comes with instructions to cut into your dash and the heater box without the full removal of dashboard. I had to replace the heater core so had to tear it all out anyway. The downside to this particular door is that along the bottom where it seats into the motor drive, part of the collar is missing. I'm wondering if it has to do with the way you would install it by cutting into the dash. Anyway, since the base was plastic with no metal sleeve, and it was missing the plastic collar part (adds stability I would think) I didn't use it. But fwiw, it did fit perfectly with no mods, like the other door needed. I returned this one.And btw, don't cut into your dash and the heater box - not only is it irreversible and sketchy, but that door has to fit into a holder/frame and it is not a simple issue to snap that to the heater core. By the time you are down there with your dash and heater box permanently ruined and you are still struggling to install that, you might want to just do it right and take the dash out. My advice: work overtime at your day job and use the cash to have a shop do this treacherous repair.

Worked as advertised. Instruction sheets are little vague but youtube videos were very helpful. Was able to replace damper without removing dash - huge time saver. 2 screws to remove the lower air duct - one is very difficult to get to - just behind a round damper control. Removed a passenger side dash bracket. Slide the air duct over and removed 3 screws holding the damper control box. Removed glove box. Cut air box with an oscillating saw. Made sure the new damper control was turned full counter clockwise (A/C mode). Test fit the new damper to the damper control box before I put it in because the metal coupling can be 180 out of sync. Everything fit nice and snug. Haven't had it working very long but seems to work just fine.

Watch the YouTube videos on how to install this. It isn't easy to install but I got it done with minimal cursing. You will need some cutting tools.

My neighbor installed this for me following the video on Youtube. He was done in less than 2 hours! I now have heat again! Thanks Doorman for this part, and my awesome neighbor Devin for saving me $1200 in labor from Ford!

The blend door is well engineered, better than the original, install was about 3hrs but I didn't have to remove the dash. The instructions were pretty good but I viewed a dozen YouTube clips and took hints from each one before attacking the repair. The repair shop wanted 8hrs labour + parts = more than $1000.00, with the Doorman blend door, YouTube clips and patients cost $30.00.Very happy with the result. Have fun, cheers.

As advertised. Fit perfect. After working through my climate control issues I settled on this being the problem. It was very convenient that the instructions in the box were the method I was going to use to fix this issue. I also watched a video on you tube that also took me step by step. It was very easy. The hardest part was getting the screws out of the floor vent. There was only two on my 99 ford f-150. I highly recommend having a dremmel tool with a good cutting bit for cutting into the box. I used I rotozip type bit. And you should have epoxy puddy to fill in the gaps the cut will make. This also comes with the metal tape to put over the cut after it has been filled. This took me two hours. I was not rushing making sure I was doing correctly.

If the blend door on your '97-'04 F Series has stopped working (and if it hasn't, it probably will), this is the part you need. Dorman makes another blend door that matches the factory part, but unless you want to pull your dash out and take the whole air box apart, neither the factory part nor the factory Dorman replacement will work. You can replace it through a hole that you cut into the top of the air box, behind the glove box, but only if you buy THIS part number. Whoever came up with this idea is a GENIUS. It even includes the foil duct tape to seal up the air box after installation. One tip - in addition to cutting a hole in your air box, you have to remove the blend door motor which is under the blend door. To get that motor out, you have to remove a big piece of A/C ductwork that runs along the top of the transmission hump. Getting that piece of ductwork out was one of the more challenging parts of this job, so I recommend replacing your blend door motor at the same time. They don't cost much, compared with having to take that ductwork out again.

was researching the problem i had with my 99 F150 for a while when i started my truck in a parked position my a/c would work fine nice and cold on any modes Low medium High but if my a/c was on low or medium once i started driving my a/c would blow hot but if i kept it on high max a/c it would blow cold regardless if the truck was moving but if i really got on the gas the a/c area behind the glove box would make a thump and immediately start blowing hot air so i would have to keep turning the a/c on and off until cold a/c would blow out. sometimes i would have to turn off and re start the truck for cold a/c to blow out and it would only work on high and max a/c while driving i gave my system a recharge which defiantly made the a/c colder but didn't solve the problem while driving i typed my problem into google and multiple people had the same problem finding out i had a busted blend door i think to have a dealership fix it for you it would run between $700 - $1000 because they would fix it the right way by removing the dash but a 1000 dollars is 1/5 of what i paid for my truck haha If you have a broken blend door this is the part you need the hardest part for me was removing the screw thats behind the floor vent that honestly took me like 2-3 hours trying to remove that one screw everything was easy i spent a total of 7 hours installing everything and putting everything back together but if it wasent for that one screw being so hard to get to my time would of probably been cut in half i watched a video on youtube shows you how to do everything step by step recommend this to anyone who has a broken blend door and be prepared to get frustrated on that screw behind the floor vent
