It has been a couple of months now and the EVAP error has not returned. For the low price, you might as well just change it and see what happens. My car has around 165K miles with the original Purge Solenoid. It tests good on the work bench however upon closer examination, it might have been intermittent. Before spending a lot of money, first try the Gas Cap, and the Purge Solenoid next. On my car the Check Engine light would never clear unless the ECM was reset, so just changing this part will not necessarily solve your problem, unless you do a RESET. The brand new Gas Cap I bought from the dealer was a loose fit, so keep in mind, that a brand new Gas Cap doesn't necessarily work properly, especially if the lip of the Gas Fill entrance has a little dirt or corrosion. It needs to be clean and smooth at the Gas Cap and I would recommend this type of Gas Cap rather than the one the dealer provides. There is a sensor which is expected to sense fuel vapor when this Purge Solenoid is activated, so the third step is to find that sensor, and carefully clean it or possibly replace it. Make sure the hoses are making a good solid connection. The standard Smoke Test used for leak detection doesn't always locate the cause of the problem, because the fault is not always a result of a leak. So I would recommend doing these preliminary steps first. This solenoid makes a solid click sound. The old one was very quiet, and would vary in sound upon repeated activation. It was tested with a low pressure air source and 12 volts DC. The old one was thought to be good because it passed the standard test, however it turned out to be bad after all.---------- update 4-10-22 ----------I had originally stated that there is a sensor which is expected to sense fuel vapor when this Purge Solenoid is activated. I am not sure that statement is correct. If the RPM drops significantly during the Purge Cycle, it can throw an EVAP Error. My car would intermittently stall at the Stop Light. Changing this part solved the problem. It's been many years now and still working fine.
