Inexpensive item that cured the starting problem after gas-up in my older Hyundai Sonata.Quality build. Arrived in 3 days. Installation a bit tricky due to cramped location behind the intake manifold, but easy to do with basic knowledge and simple tools. An excellent product that solves a big problem.

vw jetta 2001. fit and worked and passed emissions. THE FIRST ONE HOWEVER WAS SENT WITH A BROKEN ADAPTER. If you find yourself unable to get it to work check the adapter. there are 2 female clips that connect to the actual [urge valve. inside an individual female receiving clip are 2 clips, the connection to the actual adapter and a clamp that contacts with the male part from the purge valve. it will not work and will read open circuit error code if this is bent or or missing. (really you only get a few shots to put this on, so when you attach it the first time, clip it snug!). after sending it back to amazon, they sent me one with both clips adn all was well. drove it over 100 miles after clearing error codes, and after the car read all clear and green lights took it to emissions. they said everything was perfect, and I passed. WORTH EVERY PENNY.quick notes for DYI or inexperienced:-your purge valve although it is state law, does very little for your engines overall health, as long as everything is attached and small leak codes are read. you could buy this pass emissions, and even replace the old purge valve, as long as small leak is the only problem there should be no worries. the problem is medium or large leaks being detected which can then greatly affect other parts in your car. unfortunately the best way to fix this outside yourself is the dealership and it is not cheap.-open circuit error code doesn't necessarily imply that there is incompatibility, rather it implies that there is no reading from the purge valve. if it was incompatible, it simply would either not work, or it would read a different error code.) if your error reads open circuit dont panic check that everything is connected reset the error codes try again. if it isn't fixed check the clips as previously mentioned. if they look like the picture send away for a new one. amazon is quick.

I purchased this unit to replace the OEM purge valve in my 2008 VW Jetta SE. It fit and operated correctly, which is why I am giving it 4 stars. The adapter cable is less than ideal but functional. Unfortunately, the part is missing a bracket that is used to secure the OEM part to the engine. With this part, it just lays on top of a few other wires, which is not a good long-term solution. You could use zip ties to secure and protect it from vibration but I am not a fan of zip ties in my engine bay. I would suggest purchasing a different (or OEM) replacement for Jetta owners.

I ordered it for my 2003 Hyundai Sonata which was giving me troubles with starting after fueling every time at gas station. I had to wait about 5 minutes to start the car every single time so i went online and searched for the related issue. Purge Control was the culprit and after checking with local parts store (Autozone etc.) and Hyundai Dealers, i decided to give this a try since the cost of this was 1/3rd of what they had quoted me.The part was shipped quickly and i got it installed by a local mechanic. I am happy to state that after installing this, my Sonata is starting in one turn of the key without coughing at the pump. I have driven about 800 miles after installing this and have noticed no issues such as 'check engine light' etc.I highly recommend this for all Hyundai Sonata owners in case of facing rough starting issues at the gas station. Good product at a very reasonable price.

The hardest steps of replacing this part on the vehicle are 1-locating the part in a tight space and 2-disconnecting the existing hoses. All in all it took approximately 30 minutes for me to replace the part after locating the old part. It is an exact fit exept I didn't need to use the extra electric connector that came with the part. I guess some vehicle models require that piece to be used. Not 100% sure if the part solved the emission concerns I have however it did indeed help it improve the preformance. It appears two mechcanics one a chain store type and one a private shop both didn't think of replacing it. One did do some repairs for a high price and it didn't do much to improve the vehicle's emission. Guess there isn't much mark up to replace a purge valve.

Ordered the part and noticed that even though I have Amazon Prime 2 day shipping the deliver estimate was 5 days out. I chatted online and they said that they would "fix" my order. Nothing changed on the order so I called Amazon about the delay. The rep was nice enough to let me know that Amazon is on alert for this particular product due to the the sheer ammount of returns on this particular item and has instituted a 2 day warehouse hold so they test each unit before it ships.I got the item 5 days later and installed it and my Check Engine light and codes went off. Yeah right? Ok that lasted about 40 minutes then the Check Engine Light came back on. I can only imagine that there was a defect in the unit and it burned out within an hour. Called the dealer and the part is only 22 bucks from them so I am returning this Dorman (made in China) and getting a dealer replacement for the same price.
