Tricky to install, but perfect fit for my 2006 VW Beetle. You must remove the paneling on the trunk interior and unscrew the 3 screws holding the part on. Remove & replace & opposite order. Fun times doing anything with this car.

Replaced a damaged brake light (cheap aftermarket). This one feels heavier than the one I replaced and the gasket was similar to OEM rather than the separate gasket of the one I was replacing. The led lights are very bright - just what you want.

After viewing several videos of how to remove and install this top brake light, I was able to quickly replace the non-working light in a 2010 VW Jetta. Perfect fit, not a difficult repair. It took less than 10 minutes (because I was being very careful - not MY car). If you need one, get this one. Save yourself the pain of going to a dealer and paying $$$ for it. You can do it! Worked great as a replacement on my 2006 VW Jetta. I found a good tutorial on YouTube for instructions. Not difficult to remove the old one and install this if you're reasonably comfortable doing minor repair work in general.As another reviewer mentioned, the clips that slide onto the track to attach this to the vehicle come by default in a different position than the stock unit. I used my fingers to squeeze them and move them into position, see my attached photo - when they're in this position, it slides and clips into place very easily. The unit I received had the metal clips on the outside of the plastic rather than the inside. Perhaps it can still be installed that way but it felt too tight to me. Also, as another reviewer mentioned - be mindful of the attached rubber strip. If you're not careful when installing, you could tear it by accident.Gave it stars instead of 5 because it's made in Taiwan and the build doesn't seem to be as high quality as the original, but if it stops working I'll be sure to come back and update my review. After install it looks great, works flawlessly so far.

I saw lots of reviews on both sides of the fence on this part, so I want to share mine. Mine went into a 2006 New Beetle. The hardest part was getting the old one out. It was dry rotted and ended up coming out in pieces. This replacement lamp went in perfectly, fit great, sealed nicely, screw holes aligned perfectly, and it works perfectly. For me, it was a great replacement. Sorry several others felt differently. Great product here!

Amazon originally states that this is not compatible with my 2005.5 VW Jetta. However, after some research, as long as you have a MK5 Jetta, this should work. Installing it was kinda tricky when sliding the light in, the metal clamps were a bit of an issue. However, the light works amazing and I am very satisfied with the purchase! Plus, the price is much more reasonable here then from other sites!
