This is the part needed to fix a common problem. The original part fails because the blend door becomes stuck in a closed position from its perimeter seal adhering to the surrounding duct opening when in the maximum travel position. Inserting a tiny screw thru the new gear stop will prevent this from happening again. ‘Alex the Mechanic’ on YouTube deserves total credit for this innovative DIY fix…Big Thanks to him!..look it up and this description will make sense. Pay it forward.

The temp control quit on passenger side or our Jeep Grand Cherokee. This part is what usually breaks. It is considered a sacrifice component that breaks instead of the temp door inside or the motor unit which would be a much more costly repair. This is a Dorman part and they make a lot of OEM components so I feel it is a quality component. The price for 2 is excellent and as both temp controls use same part I have a spare to use incase the other side breaks. Cannot say it is easy to replace but certainly a DIY project. Just be sure to clock the actuator before putting this part in so system functions properly. When you turn your key on the unit will do a sweep mode to learn the limits of movement. Check out YouTube for replacement and function.

I installed a Mopar blend gear about 6 months ago and just the one cost me about 25$ I found these and thought great I have an extra. The reason I bought these was the Mopar one failed again and these fit with no issues. Then the other side failed and since I had a spare I popped it right in. The driver side is a major pain to get to but the passenger said was directly behind the glove box. There are some good YouTube videos for installing these and if they get out of alignment just disconnect your battery for about 15 minutes then start the jeep up and hit auto on your Ac controls. If they are still out of alignment they will eventually line up over time. I managed to speed this up by adjusting the ac and heat controls all the way cold and then all they way hot several times. Hope this helps.

The price for 2 of these is less than half for 1 from the dealer.2011 Dodge Durango passenger climate zone was inop. After diag and noticing it was intermittently working, conclusion was this piece was broken. Removal is simple, install is just the same. Took about 15 minutes total. Dealership wanted $1100 to diag and repair. If you are mechanically and technically inclined, I highly advise you to repair it yourself and save a ton of money.Works as it is supposed to, and I have an extra for the next time one of the dual climate zones decides to not work.

The other reviewers mentioned that the inner gears dont line up. They lined up well but the other reviewers were right in mentioning that you need to power up your car, have the motor rotate so that you can install it in the proper orientation. But in terms of OEM vs this. This product was better. In photos the broken OEM is on the right. You can see that the gear doesn't have teeth all the way around so its only able to go on one way. All in all excellent fitment and part.

Great product and cheaper than dealerships. Not easy to install. That is the terrible design of vehicle not this company. This part should have been made of metal being the location and importance of it. But you know car manufacturers have to make their money. If you cannot install it yourself, dealer will charge a lot of money. Cheap part , but hard to change. Or suffer with no heat/ac. Wow!! Not much of an option here!!

Based on a utube video I found, my son replaced this part for me. I am confident a dealership would have charged an arm and a leg for this repair. My symptoms were getting heat on the driver's side and much cooler air on the passenger side and rear. There was some fumbling with lining up this part onto the actuator but there are small arrows on the actuator, that when lined up, went into place easily.2 gears are included, so if this part fails on the driver's side, I already have the part. The part numbers are the same so they are interchangeable between the driver's side and the passenger side.I am very happy to have found this and would recommend it to anyone with any kind of mechanical aptitude to replace and fix the problem.
