My daughter really wanted a microscope for her birthday. I searched and read so many reviews on so many products. I didn't want to get anything too expensive for her age, so this seemed like the best option. Overall it works and she likes it, but it's not fantastic. The 40x zoom is good and the easiest to use - you can actually see quite a bit of detail with this option. The 100x zoom is ok, harder to get in focus, and a smaller view hole to see. With the right objects you can get some pretty cool views. The 400x zoom we've basically given up on. The view hole is soooo small at this zoom level that it's really hard to focus and see what we are looking at. If you have bad eyesight then forget it - you won't see anything.Overall for a 9 year old who is into science, she likes it and has fun playing with it. It's simple enough for her to use on her own. If she's still interested when she gets older I may convince her to buy a usb or screen microscope instead so she can really see things enlarged. This one is really only good for very small - mostly flat objects. She has examined leaves and flower petals, all her rocks and gems and various little toys.It's hard to take a picture but attached are a few snaps through the microscope of a flower petal in different areas / zooms.

Cute kids microscope. For the price the girls love it. I work with microscope everyday, it's def not bad for a kids scope. As always there are some things I would change. I don't love the metal clips and I wish the condenser moved. But for a kid scope you can get a good clear view

I purchased this for my 10 and 6 yr old. This is great microscope for the price. It has multiple lenses and accessories that allowed them to look at different items. My 6yr old can now operate himself and they've only had it since this recent Christmas. He's taken multiple outdoor items and put them on the microscope to look at.

Ordered this for our seven year olds birthday. This is a great starter kit for an eager learner. The pre-prepped slides were of great interest and got him curious about collecting samples.
