I like how these strings pop in color and also how the finish doesn’t come off on your fingers or your feet board.

They not as bright as regular strings, but that extra brightness was noise. It makes for a more articulate sounding string. My fretless bass plays differently now. The texture has smoothed out and it is incredibly easy to slide. Playing is almost effortless. The tone is better and the instrument is more responsive. The slap tone is much better because the handling noise is greatly reduced. The loud click when hitting the strings is almost eliminated. This allows me to use more of the bridge pick up if I want to while slapping, since the handling noise is greatly reduced.I use five string basses and like the old funk gauges of 30 50 70 90, so I take a six string set and use the 30 - 105 strings as BEADG. It works great. It is not for those using heavy picks. However, the tone is better, the instrument is far more responsive, and the dynamic range is greatly expanded. As I mentioned before, the fretless bass (Carvin LB75F wide neck) plays almost effortlessly. I really hate to play anything else and have ordered DR K3 coated strings for the rest of my instruments. (5 string Jazz Bass, Tele, Tele Baritone)Strings one and two are dead. They are like strings after several months of heavy use. They are dull with little top end. Amazon is doing an exchange and I will see if the replacements are better. DR is also quite responsive to inquiries and was also willing to take care of the issue. Amazon already was sending the replacements.

I love their feel, their sound, it's so un-coated sound! it's true, they don't feel or sound like coated strings. Terrific! And not to mention the looks! They're mind blowing! Precious! I had my bass painted black, and the contrast is just out of this world! Every penny worth!

I ordered some red devils that came in today for my 35" scale 6 string bass only to find out after pulling the B string through and clipping the end, that the thick wound part of the string was about 1cm short of the nut when I tightened it down. They are beautiful looking strings, I only wish they fit! The short scale length should be included in the description. Found out you can contact DR directly and they will give you whatever length you want. Using a set of orange ones on my "Molly Malone"(Irish Flag Colors) bass,Strings look like heating elements glowing on the Hi setting. Still sound great. Friction on the strings seems to be increased a bit with the coating but when my hands have sweat dripping off them on stage or at a very humid outdoor event this is a good thing.
