I used this sander for my ceiling which was popcorn. Blew through the rough texture no problem, but creates a huge dust cloud. Make sure to use a respirator and dust shield on your face if doing ceilings.

I bought this sander for sanding ceilings after popcorn removal. I knew that using it over head would not be easy because the unit is heavy. I just tested it out on the garage ceiling where I had sprayed some test popcorn years ago. Using 240 grit paper the sander did a very good job of smoothing the ceiling, BUT for some reason I do not yet understand there was very little dust removal at the sanding head. The collection bag did puff up/inflate once the unit was running, but still very little collection of the dust. So for now it is 3 stars. So far it's heavy and sort of awkward for ceilings. I was up 4 rungs of a 6 foot ladder while making the test. The unit seems to be well-made and constructed. The "operator manual" is terrible. Tiny little print, tiny little pictures, and not a great translation to English. The next task is to investigate why dust collection is not so great.

Unit worked well. My only complaint is the locking handle where the handle is hinged broke on the second use. Haven’t tried to contact company for a replacement yet

This saved a lot of time! It does get heavy after a while if you don't change the bag out. I gave it 4 stars because I did get dusty. All in all it's still a good product.
