About this item

  • You can Bokashi all kinds of food waste: veggie, fruit, fish, meat, and diary products. Turn all the food wastes into organic fertilizer. The VermiTek Bokashi composter makes it possible for all-year-round composting. You can Bokashi in hot Summer or cold winter. Plus, you can place the Bokashi composter indoor or outdoor. No unpleasant smell. A locally (Washington State) made 2.2lbs of Bokashi bran (or starter) is provided. It is bagged in a paper bag for environmental consideration.

The easy snap sealed Bokashi Composter Kit is the first of its kind in the Bokashi compost market. All the other brands or models with lids that requires strong force to open and close, which could tear apart the lids, whereas the snap sealed lid has a built-in silicon ring for complete seal in a quick snap. The VermiHut Bokashi compost kit is an indoor system for recycling food scraps into an organic compost. It uses enzyme to ferment the food scraps. It takes about 2 weeks to fill the compost bucket and another 2 to 3 weeks for the fermentation process. Then, the fermented food scraps can be buried into the soil, and turns into organic soil conditioner. When the ferment process goes successfully, it does not generate unpleasant smell. The Bokashi compost kit includes a piece of strainer, allowing the liquid separating from the main food scraps to ensure successful fermentation, a piece of spigot and a cup are provided to collect the liquid. This liquid contains rich nutrient and it can be used as a fertilizer. The liquid also contains enzyme which can be used to un-clog the house-hold drains. The compost kit comes with a piece of finger snap air-tight lid, which ensures anaerobic fermentation. The composting kit also comes with a piece of a dual functions tool: compactor/scraper. The compactor is for compressing the food scrap to squeeze out the air, and the scraper is for removing the fermented food scrapes from the buckets. This is new feature and the other Bokashi composting models don’t have this feature. A bag of 2.2 lbs of locally made Bokashi bran with a spoon is included in the compost kit. A piece of kitchen food scrap collection pail is included in the system to store the food scraps before transferring to the Bokashi bucket. The market value of the compost pail is worthy of $15.

This Bokashi Composting Bin is Superb. You get everything you need to start composting. I only smelled a slight odor once and realized I needed to drain it using the convenient spout. I did some research and mixed the liquid with water and applied it to my shrubs. I feel it was well worth the money having all the accessories, and even the smaller food scrap bin. I was going to try to this the cheaper way using a 5 gallon bucket, but now I don't want to. This bin seals great and is easy to clean. Now I need a second one.

I just recently learned about bokashi composting and am loving it so far! I don’t have a ton of extra time to work on a traditional compost pile so this is a perfect alternative.Pros:- This system comes with everything you need!- The little masher works great at compacting down the compost (the key to bokashi is removing as much air as possible).- The composting bucket itself fits perfectly under my sink.- I particularly appreciated the little counter bucket that you can use throughout the day and then empty into the big bucket at the end of the day.Cons:- none so far! This system is perfect for bokashi beginners and you can’t beat the price. Definitely worth the money and I’m looking forward to using this in my garden this year.

The can is very solid. Also includes some bokashi bran which I think worths at least $15. So overall a great deal! Surprisingly pleased by the product. I took the risk on ordering it without any review but I think this deserves a 5 stars for sure.
