I had high hopes for this tool...which were dashed...I have an old 49 Ford 8N tractor. My read axle was worn out. I tried buying a new one, but the QA was horrible and the splines weren't cut deep enough.So I tried finding a used one. I got it installed, but my bad for not ensuring the axle nut went onto the end...the threads were buggered up.I came across this tool, and for 40.00 I gave it a shot. There were NO instructions. Just a sheet labeling all the parts, and 1 picture as an example.The problem is when you get the piece clamped onto the axle and start to leverage it to beging the rotation, and thus cleaning threads, the wrench begins to work loose.Too tight and you can't spin it.Too loose, it flops everywhere and falls off.If you find the happy medium, it leverages itself off the pipe as you start turning it.Save your $$.

Was skeptical about ordering this and if it would work or not but it saved me a lot of money. I didn't have to buy a new axle just because I was able to fix the treads with this item. Well worth the money spent

I had a axle bearing go out on my tractor that ended up trashing the axle threads. The replacement axle ran well over $800 and no surprise - it was not currently available. I was not overly optimistic but decided to try this thread chaser and a thread file and it worked extremely well - far cheaper and quicker than taking it to a machine shop. Once I fixed the axle, I took my new favorite toy and went looking for other candidates to fix. I tried it on some other older rusty pieces of heavy equipment and it did an awesome job on them as well. I think I might end up using this more than I expected. For my foreign equipment I bought the OTC metric dies (OTC 202817 Metric Die Set for Universal Outside Thread Chaser) which fit and work well with this chaser.
