There was one good sample that was the size in the description. The others were small shards about the size of gravel. Will be returning.

The Good:I received a rock. After some investigating, to this Novice rockhound, it may indeed be Biotite Gneiss. It can also be Unakite. After investigating, I do believe it to be Gneiss. The Bad:It is obvious used a stock photo from on-line to get their picture. what I received looked nothing like the picture on Amazon. The Ugly:It took me and my good buddy an hour to investigate and make sure it is Biotite Gneiss.

I got this for my grandson who loves geology. I guess I was disappointed that it wasn’t a prettier rock. I myself know nothing about geology so I will explain what I can find out about this little rock so he will appreciate exactly what it is.
