The medallion is 3/4 light wood 1/4 dark wood .. so even if I stain it it will be 2 different colors

Didn't know what rubber wood was but took a chance and ordered it. Once stained to match my oak trim looked great and matched perfectly. Least thing l liked was some of the pieces were made with light and dark grain wood.

I was ordering medallions for the ceiling when I ran across several small medallions, including this one. The other two I ordered are made of a heavy resin type material, like the ceiling medallions. They are very nice too. I was expecting these to be stained like wood. But, they are unstained wood. I have not yet decided on the size and style I will keep. I have three styles in three sizes. I plan to line up three over a doorway. The 8" medallion is too large. It fits, but doesn't look right. If I keep this style, I will display 3 in a row as diamonds above the master bedroom doorway. The third one is a 5" round medallion and is a tad smaller than this one. It would look nice too.After ordering this one, I found a medallion with this flower, but in a square frame. For my use, I think this medallion, without the frame, will be a better choice.The wood feels smooth, but maybe not quite as smooth as the synthetic medallions. This wooden medallion feels more substantial. For my intended use, no one will be touching this. So, no worry about damage. I think the wooden medallion will last generations--even if it is handled.Natural wood has natural character. the wood has been glued together in strips, then fashioned into a medallion. Because the grain pattern isn't consistent on the three rosettes in this style, I would not recommend staining these.Beautiful craftsmanship.

These are the perfect size. I bought 4 of them, and added one on each end of two pieces of furniture. I chalk painted and distressed them to match my paint job on the furniture and you would think they came that way!
