"Where has this been all my life" I probably use this for what it wasn't intended for but for my purposes it works great!!! In fact maybe you might like my ideas for how I use it for as well Lol. I basically use this mat to help me quickly and efficiently defrost meat for the family. (I don't want to inaccurate post defrost times because it will vary depending what your defrosting and thickness) all I can say it workes great for that purposes. After I defrost my meat I clean the mat as I'm cooking dinner. As the the meat is cooking I once again heat up the pad, and when the meat is finished cooking I place the meat in my meat resting blanket (also ordered and reviewed on Amazon) and place it on the warming pad so the meat doesn't get cold while it's resting. I can let it rest for 30 minutes before cutting into your meat and continue preparing the rest of your dinner. It's still going to be nice and warm when it's ready to eat with AMAZING results. If you want to buy this for these reasons alone, it's TOTALLY worth it!!! It will take your meat to the next level!!! I honestly think these are also very valid reasons for getting this for thoes special dinner parties or holiday dinners especially.

After trying another warming mat and finding it handy but missing some things, I was looking forward to giving this one a try!What I really liked (better than the other warming mat) is that the display actually shows digits for the current temperature (as opposed to symbols representing what the setting is) -- and there's so much more than the 3 the other one had (this has 7!). Also, I really liked that all symbols on the console part were actual physical buttons that you can literally/physically press down (couldn't say the same for the other one). One other thing on top of the other warming mat is the addition of a timer button; so I can choose for myself how many minutes it stays active. The option of a lock button to lock it vs. the protection of the other mat where the power button had to be held for more seconds than preferable is also an added plus on top of the other one. I also did notice that this mat has a thicker material; which is optimal and most preferable in terms of keeping plates/platters warm and keeping surfaces safe.After laying it out, while not big enough to hold as much as what's super-imposed on the product page's photos, still big enough to hold a serving tray (or platter) or a couple of standard plates or bowls. And from what I can tell, it evenly distributes the heat throughout the mat successfully keeping the food warm and having it stay warm.Also, even though it might be standard with all these kinds of warming mats, it's still a nice notable feature that works well with it being able to be compact because it can be rolled up; nice and easily stored/transported.So while I can say the mat and therefore the food heats up fairly evenly, I would also say that it takes a considerable wait to get to the desired temperature (for warming or heating); even if you were to input the topmost setting to get to the lower temps faster.So I'm happier with this warming mat than the other(s) and find it more preferable. This one works as intended, and it works very well. It doesn't have the same shortcomings, and significantly improves on, or adds on top of, where the other lacked or went wrong. This one is definitely worth it and will be my go-to for keeping what I'm serving warm!
