I really like these shorts, and I’d like to give them 4.5 stars if I could - just a couple of things hold them back from a perfect 5. They’re made of a nice lightweight nylon material that’s much thicker and tougher than other quick dry shorts I’ve had. The stitching is good quality and the zippers work well. The fit is good, although a bit snug through the seat/crotch. Waist size is spot on, I wear a 34 in most dress pants (and 32 in Levi’s), and 34 fits me well.My gripes with these are minor but annoying: first, the pocket zippers close toward the front and the large pull tabs hang down the front of my legs. I’d strongly prefer to have them close toward the back instead. I will be taking off the pulls, leaving just the zipper tab. Second, the plastic Ellobird logo on the leg is too stiff and is already pulling its stitches. Lastly, I wish they were just slightly roomier across the front, although they’re not uncomfortable.I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to finding a nice pair of shorts and I think these are a great effort from this manufacturer, using high end name brand materials with a generally good design. A couple of tweaks like reorienting the zippers and changing the plastic logo to embroidery or a transfer would make these about perfect.

OverallThese cargo-style hiking shorts are built for movement and outdoor use, with a comfortable feel and smart pocket placement. In my experience, they strike a nice balance between rugged and wearable. The only hiccup? Sizing was a bit tricky, but that’s partly on me for getting overconfident about the stretch!Packaging and SetupThe shorts arrive in a standard garment bag—basic, clean, and ready to wear straight out of the packaging.Performance and ExperienceThe fabric feels soft but durable, with a quality finish that makes these shorts feel ready for anything from a rough trail to a lazy stroll. They’ve got 4 pockets—2 zippered in the front with light reflective strips (a thoughtful touch for evening walks), and 2 velcro ones in the back. The reflective accents are subtle but effective. Now, about the fit: I sized down, thinking the 4-way stretch would offer more wiggle room (thanks to experience with other brands), but these have a firmer structure than expected. They’re wearable, just snug—so fingers crossed they loosen up a bit after a few washes... or I finally cut back on the late-night snacks. Either way, the shorts themselves aren’t at fault.Length-wise, they sit just above the knees as shown in the pictures, which works well for both hiking and casual wear.OptionsAvailable in six colours.IssuesThe 4-way stretch isn’t as stretchy as some other brands I’ve worn. If you're on the fence, I’d suggest sticking to your regular size unless you're looking for a tighter fit.ProsSoft, well-made fabricZippered and velcro pockets add convenienceReflective front strip for evening visibilityGreat for hiking or casual wearAccurate length as shown in photosCons4-way stretch isn’t as flexible as expectedSizing runs a bit small—consider sticking with your usual sizeMy Testing & Rating Approach:I spend at least one week testing each product to ensure I can give a genuine, real-life assessment. Whether it’s clothing, tech, or hardware, I take the time to use the item as intended, so my review reflects an actual experience. These are generally comfortable. If I am active they are wonderful. Pockets work and are roomy enough for what I need and not too big. They are light weight, do not weigh me down and are well made. Water does not soak into these very fast and tend to roll off. Nice!Just I find I am a little bit uncomfortable at the end of a long day where I ended up sitting a lot. Just a little bit. Enough that I noticed but that is probably just my body shape.

These are a really comfortable and stylish looking pair of lightweight cargo shorts. Love that the pockets on the legs are sleek and subtle, as opposed to big pouches. Zipper closures on all pockets ensure that items don't fall out and the lightweight material has just enough give to make stretching and lunging movements comfortable. I would like the inseam to be just a hair shorter, as the hem lands mid knee for me, and I would like them just above the knee, but all in all these are a great value.

These cargo hiking tactical shorts deliver exactly what you'd hope for: a relaxed, accurate fit with a comfortable amount of stretch. The color is true to the listing, and the material feels durable while still being breathable and water-repellent — ideal for hikes, yard work, or just casual wear. The six pockets are practical and well-placed, giving enough room for essentials without feeling bulky. They don’t ride up or feel stiff when moving, which is a big plus for active use.🎯 Verdict: 5/5 – Great fit, great fabric, and solid utility make these a reliable go-to for outdoor or work activities.

These are pretty good shorts and they have a great true-to-size fit. I love the pockets, I think they're the optimal size; there's plenty of space for a large phone in the front and a wallet in the back. I like the front zippers better than the back velcro, but that's not a problem. The man-made fabric (polyamide/spandex) isn't as comfortable as something with cotton, but if you expect to get them wet then it's a good material. The main issue I have is that when you raise your leg -- just stepping forward -- the material forms a weird horizontal crease straight across the crotch. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the cut or what the fabric is made of. Aside from that, these are a nice pair of shorts.

I thought these would feel cheap, but they are not. They are made of a very nice material that does not pull the hairs on my legs. They are soft and comfortable to wear. I usually wear a 36x30 pants size so I picked the size 36 and they are a perfect fit and have space to expand if I get any fatter. I would have taken a few photos of me wearing them but no-one wants or needs to see my pasty white legs.I love the amount of storage and the zipper pockets are awesome. The reflective material on the pockets are a nice touch to enhance visibility when walking in the evening or at night. They also have belt loops so if I lose weight (yeah right) then I can add a belt. I will be getting some more of these.

I recently picked up the Ellobird Cargo Hiking Tactical Work Shorts for my husband, and while we are at the end of winter and unable to use them just yet, we've had a chance to examine the features and fit. From our initial impressions, these shorts seem to offer a good mix of functionality and comfort. One of the things my husband particularly liked about these shorts is the relaxed fit and 4-way stretch material. He found them to be very comfortable, allowing for freedom of movement whether he’s hiking, working in the yard, or just running errands. The fabric feels sturdy yet flexible, which is a great combination for someone who leads an active lifestyle.Another thing he like was that it has six pockets, which provide plenty of storage space for all the essentials, from tools to snacks. My husband appreciates pockets that are both functional and deep enough to keep his belongings secure while he's on the go. Also, he liked that the shorts are water-repellent, which is a nice touch for outdoor activities, especially when unexpected weather comes into play. However, while the shorts are designed for varying weather conditions, the fabric can be slightly warmer than expected during hotter months, so I wonder how breathable they will be in the summer heat. Also, since we can’t fully test them out yet, I can't speak to their durability over time, especially after multiple washes. The Ellobird Cargo Hiking Tactical Work Shorts seem like a solid choice, offering both comfort and practicality. Although my husband hasn't worn them yet due to the winter chill, he is looking forward to using them for outdoor activities once the weather warms up. They appear to be a great option for anyone needing functional shorts for work or play.

These are lightweight which is a plus since it is hot out right now. They are casual above the knee but don't look like swim trunks. The light Grey color I got is perfect for these. The fit is probably correct but they are slightly tighter than the same size jeans I wear. I might go a size bigger in my case. They do have a slight give via the sides and they use a snap closure with a tiny piece of velcro for added security. The best thing about these is being able to look fine while staying cooler when it is hot out.

I fish weekly from my kayak, and these shorts are perfect for that application. They are lightweight and--importantly for kayaking--they dry quickly. The zippered, deep cargo pockets are secure and offer generous cargo capacity. For my kayaking purposes, I especially like the fact that there is a D-ring to which I can attach the carabiner on the cable to my fishing pliers. The length when I'm standing is slightly below my knees, which is neither a plus nor a minus for me, but might be a consideration for fashion-conscious buyers. I suppose that some would purchase them for that reason, while others might prefer shorts with a shorter inseam. The quality is impressive. For example, the use of ripstop nylon and YKK zippers instead of cheaper, lower-quality fabric and zippers is indicative of Ellobird's decision to produce a high-quality product rather than one that competes for market share solely on the base of price. However, at the discount price of $28 when I ordered these shorts, they are also price-competitive.The inclusion of reflective strips is another "plus" factor for these shorts. The only thing I would change is the "4WAY STRETCH" printed on the flap of the back right pocket. It's almost like advertising, "this product is chosen by a fat man," but in reality, being concerned about that would be an over-sensitive reaction. All things considered, I very much like the quality and functionality of these shorts, and at the reduced price of $28, I consider them to be a great value for the money.

Not only do these shorts look great but they are built even better! The material is very soft, stretchy, and forgiving. I am very impressed with them, and am so glad that I got them. You have 4 pockets in the front, and two pockets in the back. These shorts are very light and airy and have a 4 way stretch, which makes them even more comfortable. There is plenty of breathability with these shorts, and perspiration should not be a problem. The fabric is water resistant and it is has very good belt loops. The polymide/spandex blend makes these shorts perfect for casual wear and most sports like hiking, golfing, etc. These also have moisture wicking technology along with quick dry. They also have an elastic stretch in the sides of the waist for a more individualize fit.The sizing was right on and I didn't need the extra elastic on the waist, but if I were to gain weight I could be certain that these will still fit me! As soon as a I got them I tried them on and have worn them every day for a week straight because they are so comfortable! They might be a little overpriced, but they are the best shorts that I own! I highly recommend these shorts.

Very comfortable well cut shorts. These are very airy, comfortable and cool shorts that are perfect for a hot summer. They are also perfect for hiking. They are made of a durable and quick drying material. They are not cotton which is good because cotton is a no no according to experienced hikers. To my touch, they feel like a light, durable cool material almost like a light canvas. It is in fact a high quality ripstop nylon type material. Top quality from zipper to the slim reflective strips that line pocket and zippers. Nice Touch., I expect these shorts to last as they are made to be very durable and strong. They feel like quality to my touch. They fit true to size and I am very happy with the fit and look of these shorts. They fit very nicely and have an expandable elastic belt line that we get me though a few years if I continue to grow, err, more correctly expand. In any case today they are a very comfortable fit and I am happy to wear them today. The zippered pouches below the pockets are a bonus. These are nice good looking shorts that fit. Very very good for the price.
