I bought 1 for my daughter in scouting from a large box store for $14.SUPER GIFT IDEA!When I saw the lower price on Amazon, I bought one for all our our family and friends and about 10 extra boxes to have on hand for caregivers for my parents, the postal carrier, dog sitter etc.Great whistle. Not super loud but nice back up option to get attention, if you can't call out with voice.The LED has 3 settings!1) BLINDING BRIGHT - surprisingly bright to use to walk in the woods or work on a car by the side of the road in the dark. MUCH BRIGHTER than a cell phone flashlight.2) VERY BRIGHT - great for reading in the dark, in a tent or helping walking around at night in a house or in the campsites without waking everyone else. A little brighter than a cell phone flashlight and doesn't use up your phone charge.3) FLASHING - Will get attention if you need help - maybe even in dusk/daylight. Put on the dash of your car to signal for help or to assist a child in finding your car if you are waiting in a parking lot when dusk or dark.USES ONLY ONE AAA BATTERY.NOT USB chargeable - thank goodness. I prefer to use disposable OR rechargeable batteries when camping! The lights work well. However 2 out of 4 are difficult to whistle out loud enough.

The light will be useful if the power goes out or if we have to walk down a dark street. Just don't flash it in your eyes. The whistle is ok in getting attention from people nearby. I certainly surprised the family when I tried it at home (haha).Pros: The light is bright. Uses a battery I can easily buy.Con: The string that connects it to the lanyard is very thin. Fortunately I can replace it with a thicker string.

I bought this item because my son had told me about his camping trips out west. I saw this and realized how handy it would be for him while camping or hiking - it's a light/a strobe and a whistle for safety/and also hands free. It's perfect. The 4 pack worked great also because I was able to give one to my mom, who needs to take her dog outside when it's dark and she can hang around her neck/have the whistle if she needs. Same features are great for my college age daughter for use around campus and for me in my bag. A great product and definitely well made and sturdy!
