I got a killer deal on this so I decided to put it in a 115 below my ashdown 410. Definitely helps fill in some of the low mids. Sounds good, pretty transparent. It is pretty light and I'm pushing it hard so we'll see if I blow it. :)If I had to pay full price I would probably buy a Celestion but since I got this for under $100 it was worth it.

The speaker in my Ashdown Electric Blue 180 went bad and I bought this speaker on recommendation from Ashdown tech support. So far it has worked well. I received it quickly with Prime shipping and the price was right. I was glad to see it was made in the USA!

I bought this speaker to replace a cheap and heavy POS speaker that I bought last year. I was intrigued that it weighs 6 pounds rather 10 pounds like the average bass or PA speaker of this size. Well, first off I have to say that despite not being a Neo speaker, it is both very light, and very loud which has made carying my bass cab easier on me. I literally installed this speaker in my modified ported Crate bass cab the night it arrived (pretty fast shipping), and I took it straight to band practice the same night. I'm happy I decided to do that because the speaker became broken in after just a few hours of playing. Before it was broken in it was very "boxy" sounding with too many high mids and dull treble. After it became broken in is where this speaker starred to shine! I have great lows as expected of a 15, but I have a very musical midrange when I EQ my Ampeg PF500 correctly with my Jazz bass, and the speaker has a respectable amount of treble despite that my bass cab has no tweeter in it. This speaker also helps me sit in the mix well, but also allows me to cut through in my punk metal band. I have also used my fretless with this speaker, and it sounds very smooth and sharp. I have yet to use this speaker with my Pbass or live at a gig, but live sound only matters if you are playing somewhere without PA support. I'm also looking forward to pairing it with my 410 Carvib bass cab to see how they sound. I would recomend this speaker to anyone looking for a great light weight replacement speaker for their rig, especially if they can't drop $200 on a Neodymium speaker to upgrade a bass cab worth $50 like I have. This speaker was $70 well spent in my book.

Installed two of these speakers in a bass cabinet. They blew after 60 shows. The amp that was used is a 450W behringer head. These speakers should have lasted. VERY Disappointed.

Used this as a replacement speaker for a bass guitar combo with a ported cabinet. Item arrived well packaged and in great shape, it's a heavy, quality USA made speaker, which was surprising and delighting for the price. It sounds fantastic, lows are full but not boomy, mids are balanced and crisp. No tweeter in the combo, but the upper strings still sing in an old school kind of way. Overall the speaker in my application sounded flat, tight, and true, but with a distinct character that I really like. Can't wait until it breaks in a bit more.Four stars because eminence clearly has better speakers with higher power handling, but I have to say the value of this alpha 15 really shines. I'd love to hear the other series that are $100+, but I wasn't sure the speaker would work very well and didn't want to risk a lot of dough. Don't think you can return speakers...Make sure to check the specs of your outgoing speaker if this is a replacement like mine was. I lucked out with the combo's internal dimensions, but the speaker only sounded best when I sealed the port.

I know it's a "pro audio" woofer but it's pretty popular in open-baffle, DIY dipole hi-fi speaker projects due to its high efficiency and high Qts. Sounds wonderful in a simple h-frame as a nearfield subwoofer. And cheap! Search for "Alpha 15A open baffle" and you'll find loads of cool projects!

I replaced the torn speaker in my old Peavey KB100 Keyboard amp. I had repaired it and it was working very well (4 years with repair) but I noticed the repaired area was loosening, no notice in sound but I decided to replace the speaker. I called my local repair shop for a re-cone estimate but the price of a re-cone was well over the price of a new speaker. I tried to find the Sheffield speaker that was the original but could not find anything in the USA. I came across this speaker and with Amazon's return policy decided to try it. The speaker came beautifully packed and was super easy to install. The sound is really clear. I play piano and sing through it. I have been performing for over 30 years and when I need a small set-up the Peavey kB100 is a great choice. I love the sound so much that even on big jobs I use it as my monitor, kind of big for that purpose but when the other band members hear the quality there are no complaints. I would buy this speaker again in a heartbeat.

I was looking for a cheap 15" speaker to replace a blown one from a very old keyboard amp. The Eminence fit the cheap requirement so I ordered and installed it. It's not a bad speaker, and handles the power of the amp easily, but the sound is not as crisp as I hoped, even with a tweeter. Probably a good buy for the price, and fits my needs well, but if you're looking for something with more performance quality, you'll have to spend a lot more.
