When my check engine light came on, I discovered a P0128 "Thermostat rationality" error. That means that the temperature of the coolant didn't match the expectation. This is one of those cases where it's a lot cheaper to change out the components that affect this, which include the thermostat and temperature sensor. This is the sensor suitable for my engine. It's tricky to get to, so it was gratifying that it was a perfect fit after a few scraped knuckles. The thread locking compound is already on the threads, so you really don't need anything else!
