What is it?
Thermostat housing acts as the coolant outlet, it is normally located on the engine block or cylinder head. Engine coolant is constantly flowing, it flows through ports located in the block and head; it travels through these two components, through the thermostat housing and into the radiator where the coolant is cooled. As the name implies, this engine component houses the thermostat which regulates the coolant flow.
A car thermostat regulates the flow of coolant through the engine and is an incredibly important player in the operation of your vehicle’s engine. Once the engine is running and reaches a certain operating temperature, a sensor inside the thermostat will cause it to open, allowing coolant to flow to and from the radiator, decreasing the temperature so it can be recirculated through the engine again. This keeps your vehicle’s engine functioning at the optimum temperature.

How to replace the Thermostat Housing?
- Make sure the engine is cold and raise the vehicle on jackstands.
- Drain the coolant. Remove and examine the hose(s)
- Remove the thermostat housing.
- Remove the old gasket/seal and replace with new.
- Install the new thermostat and refill the system.

I looked up this part on the national parts stores, and they were all over 100 dollars. Same part as Amazon for a 1/3rd the price. Only down side was waiting for delivery. But this is an exact match to the factory installed housing. Everything lined up perfectly, and worked exactly as it should. Easy to install for someone experienced with basic Automotive mechanical maintenance.
