I needed a tool to permanently mark hardened tools and label keys for identification, and this engraver does the job perfectly. The unit itself is small in diameter, making it super easy to control. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it, but it’s straightforward to master. Using it feels just like writing with a pen—the key is to avoid applying too much pressure.It has solid power for marking hard materials, including glass. I’ve even used it to mark fluid ounces on a small glass jar instead of using a measuring cup, and it worked great. However, I did notice it tends to "walk off" slightly when engraving on some keys.The engraving is light and fine, but it’s enough to clearly identify what I’ve marked. Its compact size allows it to be held like a writing instrument, unlike bulkier options that feel awkward to use. My only wish is that the marks were deeper, but they still get the point across. While my engraving skills have room for improvement, this tool has served its purpose well.It’s reasonably priced and runs on a rechargeable battery, which I prefer over corded models. The only materials I haven’t been able to engrave are rubber, leather, and very soft plastics. Overall, it’s a handy tool for light engraving tasks!

This little guy is replacing a ancient and incredibly loud plug in engraver I have.So in comparison to my old engraver this one is so quiet, lightweight and much easier to use.It came with a single AAA rechargeable battery and a small single battery charger, I can’t find anything on the battery or the charger that specifies if it’s lithium or nickel.It came with 6 engraving tips, three ball and three point.I’ve included a photo of some practice run on several tools, the ball tip seems to do a better job on metal then plastic.I wish it came in its own proper case, it can be stored in its cardboard box, which has molded spots for almost everything. But it’s not ideal.

This just arrived and I have already etched something with it. It is very intuitive to use (I did read the instructions first. I was slightly scared of it--there are a lot of warnings on the instructions)--but I was able to use it safely and successfully.Since I just wanted to try it out as quickly as possible, I grabbed a new pencil and etched my name into the side of the pencil. It went quickly and easily. I am planning to take this to work to label things--tools especially--that get “borrowed” and then disappear in the hopes that more of these things will then be returned to me.For the price, this seems like a pretty fantastic product--easy to use and a fun power to have. I'll update if my opinion changes after I've etched through my office.

I haven't had a chance to really put it though its paces (especially I haven't had any glass or metals to try it on), but it has done quite well on wood, plastic, and acrylic. It's not a heavy duty machine, obviously given its size, but for small things it's just great. I like engraving my initials on things rather than using a permanent marker, as the latter can get worn off so easily, and this seems perfect for that.
