With two outlets (which can be programmed and controlled individually), you enjoy twice the smarts in one device. Try plugging seasonal string lights into one socket, and a year-round fountain in the other. Whether you're indoors or out of town, all the power is in your hands. Take control with your phone in the free VeSync app.

I bought one for the cottage last year and it worked so well that I bought one for the house this year. I love the way you can control each outlet separately to have them turn on and off at different times, that’s a must if you have to plug in two vehicles block heaters. Also being able to control them at will using the app is very convenient. Setup was easy. My only complaint is that you can’t choose to calculate your electricity costs in CAD. You have to convert from USD. But that’s not a show stopper. Highly recommend this timer.

For years I have been using timers for my outdoor fountain and tree lights. They did the job but anytime I would need to change a setting, I would have to usually unplug it, bring it inside where I can see the tiny switches or numbers and then take it back outside. I’ve been using wifi outlets inside my home for several years now and have them on an easy to set up schedule. It never really crossed my mind that there could be an outdoor wifi outlet with 2 plugs. And then I stumbled across the Etekcity outdoor smart plug and thought I’d give it a shot. The setup was fairly simple. I’ve set up many of my indoor smart plugs so I was already familiar with the process. Even so, I had some minor difficulties getting this one going. Whenever I attempted to have it search for my wifi, I would get a “timed out” message. I was less than 10 feet from my wifi hub. After restarting the app, and maybe 10 tries later, I finally got it connected. I created 2 schedules. One for each plug. The process is similar to other wifi plugs with some minor differences but you can usually figure them out. Once I got the schedules set up, I waited to see if they worked. And so far it has worked flawlessly. Best of all, I can control everything from my phone which is very very convenient. I love this smart plug and would highly recommend it.

I bought this outdoor outlet because the Etekcity indoor outlets and light switches we've had for several years have worked flawlessly. I don't know why Amazon no longer sells the single indoor outlets. We love those things and DO NOT WANT to buy other brands that require different, less capable apps. The VeSync phone app is great, allowing you to control the outlets and switches based on:Day or DaysTime of DayTime of Day +/- 30 minutes (random)XX minutes before and after sunrise and sunset. You couldn't ask for more versatility. These schedules are programed into the devices themselves, not your phone, so they run 24/7. And you can monitor (or modify) them from anywhere you have an Internet connection. My only complaints: This outdoor device dangles from a standard height wall outlet by a very short cord. The weight of the device could easily pull it out of an older, worn outlet. It would be nice if it were 6"-12" longer. In my case, I'll plug it into a short extension cord. And this complaint is minor: If I turn a device on or off using my phone app, the device responds immediately! However, if it’s turned on or off by another phone or by pressing the device’s on/off switch, it takes 15-25 seconds to display the change on my phone app. This is true for all outlets and light switches I have. I do have to say I've only noticed this while doing setup or testing. This outlet get 4 stars because of the short cord length.

Bought to replace a defective remote. Paired with my plugs perfectly. Bought the system about 2.5 years ago , has worked great. The original set had 2 remotes, one malfunctioned, needed a 2nd one. I love it, would buy again!

I bought this to protect a new washing machine against voltage spikes. Our new high-tech washer is essentially a computer with a motor and water pump, so I wanted to protect the circuitry, the way I protect my laptop. The problem in finding something was that most of the others were designed to be used inside only. I live in the desert and the washer sits outside on a covered porch. Desert heat is rough on some plastics. This one is sturdy and weatherproof. It's also made by a company that's been around for awhile. I’ll update my review as I use this device over time but at least initially, I’m impressed. To me, its key feature is voltage spike protection. In the app I can set what they call "Abnormal Power Protection" to whatever maximum I want, up to 1800 watts (The maximum that this can handle). If the power spikes and goes above the wattage I set, this will shut itself off, turning off the power to the 2 outlets on it. Here’s the nerdy part: Because the app has its setting in wattage and our washer's power usage is measured in amps, I had to do some simple math. To calculate the wattage, I went online and found a Watts/Volts/Amps converter web page. [You can also use a basic calculator to enter the numbers. The formula is Volts x Amps = Watts] Regular household current in the US is 120 volts. According to the manufacturer, our new washer uses 5 amps. That calculates to be 600 watts, so I set this device to shut off power if the power exceeds 600 watts.Three things you should note:1. The maximum power protection you set is for both outlets combined and can’t be set individually.2. There’s no indication that the company offers insurance on devices protected by this outlet.3. The app has one minor flaw. When you change anything, you have to tap on the green checkmark to save the setting. There's no way to know that in advance and it doesn’t say “Save.” If you don't tap the checkmark, the setting will go back to the default setting. It took several tries to figure that out.
