The foam was in tiny bits and hard to use

The foam flattens out once you sit on it and makes the bean bag chair useless for sitting in. Would be useful in a pet bed but not a bean bag chair as it was advertised.

It's crushed foam. I was just expecting about double, should be advertised with its size instead of weight.

We used this to fill a bean bag because it is 100% all foam when you sat on the bean bag you sank to the floor and it felt like you were just sitting on the floor. We then decided to add regular bean bag beans and it cause for a great combination. The structure of the beans and the plush of the foam was great.

I'm really unsure how to rate this. As for the product itself, it's exactly what was advertised. It's very compact for shipping but expands when unpacked. I used this foam to stuff my pouf ottomans, and they required a lot of stuffing to be as firm as I wanted them. I thought the price for this was good -- better than similar products I considered. And the ottomans look good, so I have to say the product did what was intended. In the end I took off one star just because it's SO messy to work with -- but this is also true of other stuffing products I've tried. The static causes these fillers to stick to everything, as you can see from the photo. The biggest problem I had was trying to compress the foam inside in order to add more. Every time I did that the foam I had already added would just spill back out, covering me and sticking to everything it touched. Super frustrating. Here is what I ended up doing that worked the best for this project. I poured the foam into old pillow cases and stuffed the entire pillow cases into the pouf -- and just left them in there. That prevented the foam from spilling back out when I tried to add the next pillow case. I wish I had thought of that before I started, but I'm glad I thought of it before I was done. By the way, I also watched the "how to" video using the link on the packaging. I thought the idea for how to cut the packaging was good, and I used that method. The video also demonstrated using the foam for stuffing and was much different than my experience, so maybe there is some trick to keeping the foam under control. If so, it wasn't mentioned, though. All in all, it's a couple hours of mess, but it got the job done.

I used this to fluff up 3 full size bean bag chairs and still have enough to fluff up at least a couple more. It's easy to use and less mess than the tiny round Styrofoam pellets, though it can get out of control if you are not careful. I recommend opening this up inside an x-large plastic bag, like the kind you'd use for yard work. I scooped up the foam with my salad bowl to transfer the foam into the chairs. That worked. Whatever I got on myself, I removed using a blower, and then I vacuumed up. It wasn't too hard.

I was looking for shredded foam to insert into a custom pillow that I’m making. I wanted the foam to be soft yet firm enough to hold the shape of the pillow since it’s going to be a decorative item in the house. The foam comes shrink-wrapped (and measures approx. 9”x9”x9”) and once you cut the wrapping open it expands WAY more than your would think! You may want to hold off cutting open the wrapping until you are ready to use it since it takes up about 8x the space once opened. I would recommend opening the package INSIDE a much larger container. I opened mine inside a 27-gallon storage tub. Once the foam package was opened, the foam pieces filled up 2/3 of the huge tub. (See my pics for the before and after.)Is it actually 5 lbs of foam? Yep, I weighed it.I liked that the memory foam is shredded into small pieces since it allows you to get the foam into the corners of a square pillow easier.I had no idea how much foam was in this small package. This will make a LOT of pillows! I recommend this foam for making pillows or stuffed animals, or really any craft or home project that requires quality stuffing. Just make sure you have some type of large container in which to put the foam once you open it.
