The 18mm base in the picture is correct. The 1/2” measurement in the description is incorrect. It will not fit a 1/2” chuck.

The product is not concentric at all.I thought I'd be OK with some runout, and haven't measured it exactly, but it's way too much to turn with. For holding rings while working on them, it's good enough. Be careful when expanding the jaws if working on wood or other non-metallic materials, if you tighten the screwn too much, you'll shatter your rings.

My SIL had no problem in making my ring bigger. Now I’ve gone from being scrunched to being perfectly comfortable with my new ring! It only too about 3 minutes!

Appears to be crime plated steel of some sort, not tool steel. Slight wobble when mounted in my metal lathe. Did what I needed but I wouldn't buy if you were using it more then occasionally.

When I saw this jig I thought what a great tool to have for certain turning and finishing operations on my machine lathe. It is nicely made and well finished as one would expect for a machine tool. It does work well for holding narrow ring shaped pieces for hand finishing or light machining and is a great alternative to chucking a part and having to turn it. It also get the piece away from the chuck making for good access to both outside edges. Down side is it's really only good for narrow parts that aren't much wider than each of the steps on the mandrel. If you work a piece any wider than that its hard to keep the part from walking and wobbling even with the lightest of cuts. I understand this is just a limitation of the tool and just want folks to be aware when determining if it will do what they need.
