E-Z Sonic ultrasonic threaded inserts for plastic are durable enough for the toughest environments and versatile enough to meet the needs of any application with superior torque and pull-out resistance. The brass thread inserts are designed for putting standard machine threads in 3D printed and thermoplastic parts. Install these metal thread inserts ultrasonically or with a heat driver. Brass heat-set inserts, for adding 4-40 screw threads to plastic parts.I use these for adding robust screw threads to 3D printed parts, for a more secure connection than just threading into the plastic directly. Many people use a special tip on a soldering iron for heating and insertion, but I find they work fine threading them onto a scrap piece of all-thread rod, heating them briefly in a torch flame, inserting them, and unscrewing to remove the threaded rod. It's a bit more fiddly, and takes a little practice to get the heat right, but it becomes easier with experience.I usually design in a 4.0mm to 4.25mm diameter hole to accept 4-40 size inserts, with a little more depth than needed, to account for melted material.
