These FC Gel Sticks are wonderful. I'm not trying to compare the Gelatos to the Gel Sticks, just simply pointing out how nice the Gel Sticks are. They are creamy, and work well when water is added, for the watercolor affect. The smoothness is nice when coloring with them alone, because they have a deep, rich color tone. They are ideal for children's use, as well as adults. Just a great artistic product, in my opinion. The variety of colors is sufficient, due to their blending ability.

I know these are made for kids not like the Gelatos that Faber Castell make too. These are a very good replacement for those gelatos which are very highly priced. Ive used these with gelatos and cannot honestly see a difference in the use of. The only difference is they are not permanent as the gelatos are. They need a sealant if your going to preserve your craft work. I can say they are amazingly soft and easy to use. They blend beautifully with Caran Dache Neo watercolour crayons, Inktense block colours and other gel type crayons. The colours work with fingers to blend, sponges and a hint of water, brushes and all kinds of possibilities are endless.I love them and they are just part of my stash of gelatos without worrying what quality I have. Perfect if your budget is running a little low after buying EVERYTHING you need to create mixed media art.

Estos "metallic gel sticks" son una alternativa mucho más barata a los "Gelatos" que la misma marca, Faber Castell, vende a un precio elevado. Tengo ambos productos y la verdad es que no aprecio la diferencia entre ambos. Recomendadísimos.

As far as I can tell, these are exactly the same as gelatos, but much more reasonably priced. I compared the gold gel stick with a gold gelato I had previously purchased and could not see any difference between the two. Same texture, color, they react identically with water. Even the plastic tubes are identical, save for one line of printing (one tube has the word gelatos, the other repeats Faber Castell). The only difference seems to be Gelatos come in more colors. Save your money and buy the Gel sticks, especially if you want to experiment with a new medium.I love these, but removed 1 star because you can't retract the stick back into the tube. That's just ridiculous. Even cheap twist out crayons can be retracted.

These are so cool... I resisted jumping on the gelato/gel stick bandwagon for too long! These are lots of fun- I love the texture and how they blend so well dry with my finger or a tool or wet with a paintbrush. This package gives you some great colors to start creating with, and I think it's a pretty good price for what you get. These are sort of like a really soft blendable oil pastel, but better! I can't see any negatives about this purchase right now, it even came really fast in the mail!

These gel sticks are awesome! They are much cheaper than gelatos and give the exact same effect. Sooooo much fun to play with in my art journal as well as on canvas. I use my gelatos with these gel sticks without a hitch. THe only difference is I don't think these are archival and gelatos are but when I looked up that info I couldn't find it to back up that claim, also gelatos have more colors available, but honestly they perform EXACTLY THE SAME, in fact if you are blending without water, the gel sticks blend a little easier. I highly recommend this product!

Purchased this item to use for mixed media work. I have used the sticks for colouring embossed backgrounds for cards.They give really good results and are very simple to use. Haven't used them for mixed media yet but don't think they will disappoint. Very creamy consistency and easily blendable. Would recommend to anyone in the art and craft world.

The Faber Castell gell sticks are amazing. The colors are so bright and the sticks are easy for my hands to hold. I enjoy painting and these gel sticks make it a lot easier. I really like the fact that you can draw on canvas and then add a spritz of water to get a water color effect. My daughter enjoys stamping and she has found that these gel sticks are great for stamps as well. Just rub the get stick on the stamp and spritz with water to get the stamp effect. This is a great new product for me, My only caution is that when you do draw, be careful not to rub the picture. These gel sticks are like pastels and will rub off if you are not careful.

My Kindergartener began using these gel sticks on watercolor paper as if they were crayons. She drew a picture and then carefully went over each section in water, rinsing the brush in between colors. The result was a really gorgeous painting she gave to a close friend of the family. I'm blown away by the professional results she achieved at such a young age. I will definitely be purchasing more in the future to encourage her artistic tendencies and would recommend this product to anyone with a child who shows an aptitude toward art. It's a small investment that might yield incredible results.

Less expensive than Gelatos with comparable results. As an experienced scrapbooker, I use this to fill in embossed stamped images. I have also seen it used to add a shine on top of dry embossing done with a Cuttlebug, and sprayed on as a mist. I use a simple baby wipe to blend and smooth the image and love the soft glimmer I get. One of the easiest products I have to add color to my work.

LOVE THESE! These are amazing; you can watercolor with them, and use dry and blend them like pastels. The consistency is a little harder than lipstick. They blend beautifully! I use them to color in stamped images, and for artwork and to add shimmer on top of markered images. I even combined these with water and put them in Tim Holtz/Ranger Mini Mister bottles and made my own shimmery mists in the colors I wanted. Similar mists are $5 and up each! There are many tutorials on YouTube if you want more information. These have become so popular with crafters I could not find them for a good price anywhere else except Amazon. This is not considered artist grade but I think they are good enough and are wonderful.I recommend you also buy the 12 count non - metallic gel sticks.
