In my opinion, this style breakaway cable should be standard on all trailers. I bought a trailer that had one of these for the breakaway cable, and I'd never go back. I took it for granted, since my last couple trailers I bought came standard with this, but a new one I just bought didn't have this, so I found I could order this and it plugs right in to the breakaway switch (same interface as the non-coiled cable). It does cost more than the straight cable, but it is worth the convenience everytime I connect/disconnect a trailer AND I don't have to worry about it dragging on the ground.

Good product, but the stated length is short. Order a length longer than you think you need.

I like the coiled connecting wire which is much better then the old style. The first time out with our new travel trailer the OEM connecting wire fell down on the blacktop and worn in two pieces. That won’t happen with this expandable coiled wire.

Hooking it to the side of the bed is really easy but it’s really tight.... seems to be ok and stretches but it would be better if it was 6 “ longer. It is nice not to lay in the bed and potentially get caught on hitch.

Excellent breakaway cable, fits as it should and clean looking too. The carabiner makes it easy to attached and detach.

This is such a great little modification to our trailer. Our old one ended up being pinched up in the tow chains and getting severed so we were looking for a replacement. The coil is well built, has a nice tight fit and keeps itself up out of the way. It's also very nice to just be able to clip the caribiner onto the trailer hitch and off you go. If looking for a replacement in the future would buy this unit again in a hearbeat.

Much better than the cable that came with my rv. No more fussing with trying to give breakaway cable the proper slack to keep it from dragging on the ground or making it too tight. I've used it for 8 months and other than fading slightly, it still looks perfect with no damage.

Buy the 6 foot version if you need 4 feet of cable! This is exactly what I needed! Very nicely replaces the stock breakaway cable, which always dangled on the ground or got caught up in my safety chains. However, I strongly recommend the 6 foot version instead of the 4 foot, because the tension on the coil is so tight, the extra 2 feet would do nicely even if you don’t think you need it.

Worked great to replace breakaway cable that was entirely too long that came with the trailer. This is a wonderful solution to replace that cable and have the flexibility of the coil while managing excess length. NOTE: the 4 ft is pretty short. See photo our distance is very small. For larger trailer hookups, you will need the 6 ft.

Works as advertised but two faults .Cable not long enough to reach from from of toad break away switch to motor home chassis where it need to be anchored should the tow bar fail. Had to add 18" additional cable to make connection. Pull pin is permanently anchored to cable requiring you to leave cable on front of toad when separated (great target fro kid to steal) or use a second pin to keep brakes from locking up when toad is separated from motor home. This may not be a problem for those that tow with a BrakeBuddy type system but I have an integrated system with an air reserve tank that locks the toad service brakes when the pin is pulled. I use a second pin with no cable to replace this pin when I separate the units. Once I insert the second pin the brakes unlock..
