Everything was right about my experience. I purchased one because they got good reviews on YouTube. I wasn’t disappointed. First of all, the package arrived way earlier than expected and it came with high quality packaging all rust prevention and the bits came out of the Machine so I didn’t have to take them all off to install it in the planer. I took my time installing this and I actually enjoyed it. I had looked at a couple of videos so I knew what to expect. The direction are in color and good. My advice would be to watch a YouTube video before you even start. The only complaint I have about the directions is that they were rather small paper they were written on. I’m 61, and my eyes are getting bad so that could be the excuse I’m going to use lol. So everything came about on this rather well it took me approximately 3 1/2 hours to do the full uninstall and install. I’m sure I could’ve did it a little quicker than that if I pushed myself, but like I said, I took my time and enjoyed it. Two things that you will need if you do not have them you need to order them maybe from Amazon? You will need a pair of snap ring pliers because there’s three snap rings to take off, and you’ll need a 1/4 inch torque wrench or torque screwdriver Because you’re supposed to torque the bits down to 46 inch pounds.

This cutter head gives an excellent finish to any wood including highly figured woods. A great improvement over the original cutter head. Well worth the price!

Quieter, smoother finish, longer lasting, great for hardwoods and soft. The installation is tough, but hey. It upgraded my planer to a much better product.

Changed the head with little trouble. Tried it out and didn't seat one insert (56 inserts) right, opened up the cover and reset the insert and no problems. Great finish and a bit quieter.

This is excellent. Good value for the price, easy install but like others said, you need some fine pliers or you’ll suffer during the install. Easily cut the noise in half or less and a somewhat smoother finish. The amazing reduction in noise was worth it alone.

Have not used much but so far has been great. I have been wondering why I didn't do this earlier, but I know it was the cost. It finally came down enough that competitors are making it more affordable. Like this one, it has 4 lines for blades. It is quiet, smooth, quick, and does not hang the rollers up that I have to use a push stick for it to finish feeding. If you can afford one do it. Unfortunately, it is 3/4 the cost of the planner, but I remember it was the same cost. This is the lowest price I found. Yes, it was made in China. Yes, it is good quality.

So I got this to install in a brand new 13” DeWalt planer this was all about 2 months ago. I installed it very soon after I received everything. Watched multiple you tube videos, the installation was fairly easy. I used it today for the first time. I ran a test piece of poplar through to make sure everything was ok and the boards were smooth. They were perfect. I ran some white oak, 2 boards glued together 11 1/2” wide. Much quieter than straight blades( I had the same planer years ago, it was so loud the neighbors complained). Also ran a glue up of a bunch of thin strips of hard maple, Purple Heart, and blood wood. No problem. I was concerned the hardened glue might chip the blades, but no problems. The only issue is with the cutters being in constant contact with the wood the machine is pulling way more amperage. Tripped the 20 amp breaker, but only once. There is a video on you tube where the guy test the amp draw straight blades vs helical cutter. Helical was quite a bit higher.Just for the quiet factor it is worth it. Not any louder than my 5hp grizzly table saw.
