  • Humbucking Acoustic Guitar Soundhole Pickup Body Sens

As part of the new Fishman Acoustic PowerTap series, the PowerTap Earth pickup system combines the easy installation, superior performance, and warm, transparent sound of our Rare Earth Humbucker, with a totally new soundboard body sensor. The result is a new world of percussive performance elements and tactile dynamics for guitarists of all styles. With the addition of Tap pickup technology, players can add new performance dynamics of Touch, Ambience and Percussion. The easily adjustable Blend control mixes the Rare Earth and Tap signals in mono, or run both signals into separate channels using a stereo cable. This feature allows players to add separate effects, level control, and EQ to each pickup independently – to create a striking soundscape of tones from a single instrument.

I’ve installed many Fishman pickups into acoustics this one is no different. But this is clearly the best sounding combination for a finger stylist.

Installation was relatively easy if you have a graduated drill. Did not come with installation instructions. I have installed several similar pickups over the years. Might be tricky if you've never done it before. The sound of the pickup is not the best. I keep trying to play with my amp, the cord(s), the height of the sound hole pickup etc to get more out of it. Treble and mids are fine, but bass (low E and A) strings don't project nearly as well as the high and mid range. Regardless of what pickup or blend I'm using.Did I mention that it came with almost no instructions? A day after I installed it the battery was dead. Apparently it drains the battery to leave the cord plugged in. I don't really understand why a battery is necessary. I've had soundhole and undersaddle passive pickups that, individually, sound better than this. The battery is an incredibly weird size that I had to order replacements from Amazon. To replace the battery you about have to sell your soul. Removing the soundhole pickup and jamming a flat edge into a small space under the battery. It isn't easy and there were some choice swears.I could look past the battery stuff if the pickup stood out more, but to me, this isn't Fishmans finest product. I wish I could easily unglue the pickup from inside my guitar. For my money I prefer the sound of the K&K Pure Mini undersaddle pickup. It's passive and $200 less.Live and learn I guess

It wasn’t the easiest to install, but it’s not that difficult either. Fully worth the trouble though! The sound that now comes out of my Martin D-28 now 😱🥰🤩
