Easy peasy once you learn how to install them. Lift the bike up just enough to make the main linkage “soften up” then loosen the bolts. Then make sure the sleeve slides out a bit before pulling the bolts out. Also, orient the unused holes towards the front of the bike. I had them with the 3 holes downwards so that it’s easier to readjust as needed. The “2-inch” drop was closer to 2.5-3 and it was super low and I scraped the crankcase on speed bumps and other potholes and road imperfections. Also, I couldn’t turn worth a damn as my floor boards of my 1100 scraped everywhere. I did have the shock set at at 4-5 preload. It’s practically unsafe for actual cornering and riding crappy roads. The “1-inch” drop is better suited for actual riding. Looks better and is better for shorter riders. Don’t Easter your time with the lower drop. For the price (just over $20) it’s worth the money.

Key note to understand is that some V-Stars obstruct the lower bolt with the frame, to fix this; you can push the sleeve that houses the bolt out the other side and that will give you the wiggle room needed to take the bolt out; if I knew there was a sleeve before ever undoing the bolt it would have saved me about an hour of fiddling. Once I figured it out, took me less then 20 minutes to finish the jobThe 2” setting is actually closer to 3” so if you’re only looking to drop a little bit, stick with the 1” setting. Even with the 2, my 05’ V-Star Classic still has about 4.5” of room between wheel and fender for suspension travel (after you add a 200lb man onto the seat), I do worry however the clearance when riding with a “backpack”Setting them so that the three holes are facing down is better then the other way around since there’s a pipe on the upper portion of the frame that it can hit if you don’t orient it correctly. So if you think that you’ll be messing with the settings in the future; save future you some time by placing the three holes low; this will make it so you only need to undo the lower bolt mounting to the shock, and then change which hole the bolt mounts to.

Took 10 minutes to install mine dropped more like 2.75 inches. But no rubbing or bottoming out on my 1100 vstar solo rider. Love the looks and handles awesome!
