tested it with lighter flame, not blow torch flame. the core layer hold up ok. however, the yellow coating on both side burn away quickly, with strong plastic burning smoke. beware.note:tested by holding lighter, with burning yellow flame tip touching one side of blanket. yellow coating on both side burnt away.

This looks like a really well-made protector, and I like the pink because it matches my chosen exercise-room decor, where I was going to use this to protect the nearby carpet from any potential space-heater mishaps while exercising or in any event where the cats could potentially knock the heater over while it was hot. However, all I did was open the package it came in, unfolded it partially and then refolded it to fit where I wanted it, and layed it down on the floor, and since then, I feel like I have multiple splinters I can’t see in my fingers and hands. It still feels like that after washing them and rubbing them briskly with a hand towel. Since I would be handling this with bare hands frequently, and since cats would be walking on it since it’s on the floor, with it also possibly leaving traces of whatever this is in/on the carpet, I have to return it even though the add says “no fiberglass debris, no itch…” I wish I could keep it. It worries me that whatever this is could, in fact, be possibly inhaled, but I cannot speak to that.It’s a little stiffer than I thought it would be but seems well coated, and the stitching is well done. If you were going to use this in an application where you were wearing gloves anytime you touched it, and should it perform as a good protectant, to which I cannot attest since I’m returning it, this could be very nice to someone else.Note that I wondered if I rinsed it off if it could be free of whatever is irritating, but I didn’t want to potentially damage it and thought I best return it in as near as new a condition as I could. I don’t know if washing/rinsing it would have made it irritant free to me, myself.

I thought that the acrylic coating would avoid contact with anything causing irritation. Not so much. Just from handling I felt like I was bathed in fiberglass.

I bought this item to use as an insulated grill cover. I live in Northern Michigan and winters can get cold. I also like to use my pellet stove. I use the blanket to cover my grill while in use. It does a pretty good job insulating it, keeping the warm/hot air inside the grill. Helps keep the temperature steady and uses less pellets than trying to smoke/grill with out one while the temps are in the teens and 20s. I would recommend this if your looking for something like I was. I only wish it wasn't pink. Having a different dark color would have been great!
