Stainless Steel Reinforced Bamboo Steamers
A bamboo steamer is designed to sit over another pot containing boiling water. As the water boils, the steam enters the steamer through the open slats in the bottom and is contained in the steamer by the lid. The bamboo steamer absorbs any condensation, keeping water from dripping back onto the food. When heated, it forms a hot container and, with the cover in place, can keep food warm for up to half an hour. The bamboo steamer is also an attractive serving piece and may be brought right to the table. Foods that are steamed require little or no added oils or fats, and they retain vitamins and minerals and cook quickly and evenly.

Tips for steaming:
When steaming dry foods such as breads, buns and dim sum, line the bottom of the steamer tier with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. 7" or 9" parchment rounds do the job easily. However, for foods that are seasoned such as seafood, meats and tofu, steam them in a heat-proof shallow dish to catch the flavorful and nutritious juices.

Caring for Your Bamboo Steamer:
Before using for the first time, rinse the bamboo steamer and lid with cold water. After each use, wash steamer with hot water and a brush, if necessary. Do not use soaps or detergents — bamboo may absorb fragrance and impart unwanted flavors to foods. Allow steamer to thoroughly air dry before storing in a well-ventilated place.

Excellent. Very sturdy and attractive set. Nice that it comes with 50 sheets of parchment so you can get right to steaming. Really glutenous dumplings will stick if you don't remove right away. Everything else too easy. Fish, veggies, all manner of dumplings.

The few extra dollars to purchase a steamer held together with steel bands is money well spent. Other steamers eventually go wobbly and the covers stop fitting and the multiple levels stop lining up. This steamer is right and tight. Also, rather than woven bamboo strips on the bottom of the steamer pans, this version has solid wooden planks. The steam can easily rise, but again, everything stays tight. COVID caused our best dim sum restaurants to close down, but I've found that I can make some of the treats I like and our Asian markets carry some pretty darn good frozen dumplings. I'm really enjoying using this steamer a couple of times a week and I have lots of confidence that it will hang together for a good long time....not like some previous steamers, ahem, I've had in the past...

Nicely done with stainless steel bands that should protect the steamer from falling apart prematurely. They all do with enough usage.Using it, there were no hidden surprises. It's a steamer. Low tech but this is a keeper!

The metal reinforcement is why we bought these. It seems to help maintain the integrity of the bamboo through heavy use. Hopefully this will extend the life of the baskets. The only drawback is the metal gets very hot.

This is exactly the steaming set I hoped for. It’s not too big or too small. I had a hard time figuring out the sizes from the empirical measurements given so I was relieved. I put my hand in the picture for context (I do have small hands, for your personal reference)The main problem with steamers is that they always seem to come apart. The stainless steel Banding on this is super high quality and works better than I had hoped.I like the rice paper liners, they make it easy to clean. The bottoms are a lot sturdier than steamers that I’ve had in the past which makes it easier to clean too.I will definitely be investing in silicon liners so that I don’t have to buy more rice liners but 50 free liners and 2 free pairs of chopsticks is pretty cool.There are a lot of steamers, some of them are really overpriced and some of them I’ve seen at markets for $5 and they’re selling them for $50-$100. These are decently priced, especially for the stainless steel bands that make them substantially stronger. There is quite a bit of steel and I hope to be happy with these for a long time.

I used it last weekend for a party. It was a huge success and everyone loved the food I steamed. The steamer basket worked out super. Perfect size for my needs and the extra supplies that came with my order made my work effortless. I look forward to using the steamer basket in the future for sure.
