This Fesley Flute Stand Holder, 4-Leg Stable Flute Base, Compact Foldable Design, Protective Fleece Lining, for Flutes is actually the first flute stand that I've handled. I've seen it with a fellow choir member but never really paid attention to it since the music stand worked just fine. Additionally, hers only has 3 legs and didn't look very stable. In contrast, this stand has so many things to like that made me get it:- Innovative design. Simply unscrew the bottom section and the 4 metal legs come out. Then just screw it back in.- Stable. Once it's set, the legs kept the flute upright. Feels like a solid product.- Very compact and lightweight. It actually fits in the backpocket.- The price. Inexpensive yet very helpful stand. For the price, I just cannot not get it.The one thing that I didn't care for was the box--it was just a plain white nondescript box. Very minimalist and screams cheap. Also, they need to put a small sheet inside the box to show how to put it together. I thought there were parts missing and it took me a minute to figure it out after I applied a bit more pressure to unscrew the bottom section. Given those 2 relatively minor things, the price and functionality totally overrode those issues hence the 5 star rating. At $6.99 when I ordered it, this flute stand brings excellent value for that price and effective functionality for church choir.

This inexpensive little stand is a good deal for merely $7. It has four feet and is fairly stable. It is NOT going to stop your horn from tipping over if it is actually hit with a little force. But, for normal activity around the stage, at band practice, etc. it is just fine. It is easy to set up, but no instructions are included to explain. Just unscrew the bottom and you'll figure it out.A few things take my rating down from five stars. The ad talks about the fleece lining. That is actually a small strip of fleece tape wrapped around the top. An improvement over just the bare peg, but somehow the mental picture gets lost in the translation. In " protecting the finish", I was thinking maybe a little fleece pouch came with it, but no. Also, it would be nice if maybe an O-ring could be included where the bottom of the flute hits the stand. A 1/2' O-ring will do the trickNext as I just discovered while shooting my video, the stand comes apart too easily. After a little jiggling around, the threads come loose. Mine first did this after trying a clarinet on it; just too heavy and it's never been the same since. This is easily remedied by making a gasket of paper around the screw threads. It now works fine. The description says, "Universal Compatibility: This stand is designed to accommodate a wide range of wind instruments, including oboes, flutes, clarinets, and more, the perfect stand for home practice, rehearsals and professional performances." NOPE! Stick with the flute, piccolo, penny whistle, recorder. It “might” support an alto flute, but I don't own one to try it out.For some reason I have trouble uploading video. My video showed the stand is not well suited for clarinet or straight soprano saxophone. Don't use it for these. It's convenient and worth the $7, if you stick to the flute and make the suggested simple alterations. It'll work fine without the O-ring. Maybe wrap a few rubber bands around the bottom in case you drop your flute down too hard.

Time spent with item: a three hour practice sessionNOTE: I do not play flute or piccolo. I play clarinet.Pros:* small* lightweight* value for money* ease of use* legs are metalCons:* material for the upper portion appears to be ABS plastic, I’d prefer metal for this application* stability is a question mostly because of the material. I didn’t have issues with it unscrewing itself during use. What I liked:* it fits neatly into my clarinet case for transport along with my cork grease, several reeds, extra thumb rest pads, and my cleaning kit.* it seems to keep my clarinet safe and upright during rest periods where we are discussing the material or taking a short break (otherwise I keep my instrument down but ready)What I didn’t like:* abs plastic makes me concerned that the threaded connection over time will weaken or that the weight of the clarinet will crack the plastic. Metal would be a more sure fire way to ensure it is stable and sturdy especially since the legs are made of metal.

This is a nice little compact stand. Initially, when it came in the mail, I thought Amazon had sent me something that I didn't order because I didn't recognize what it was. What's really cool about this is that you unscrew the bottom and lift up and then you can pull the legs out so the legs can't fall out on their own so once you pack it away, it's packed away until you open it. I've had a couple of other stands where they just tuck in tuck under that kind of stuff and they really are terrible, but I think this is gonna be much better long-term. Now, as far as the stand itself goes, the one thing I found interesting is that the very top of the stand has covered in felt lid doesn't scratch the interior of your instrument, but the bottom where the flute rest is just all the plastic stuff that you unscrew and everything I would've much rather prefer to see the bottom covered as well, so it doesn't scratch the end up. I don't think it's going to, but I think if you pull it on and off really fast that might happen. Overall, though it's a really great value and it's small and portable, which is really what I wanted so I could put it away without having to take up a lot of space.
