So I bought this product from amazon and unfortunately it came broken and I was forced to buy it from a box store. With that said now on to what I have to say about the tank.....This is a great little tank, but it comes with the caveat......I bought this tank with full intentions on upgrading it with new accessories i.e. inTank media basket, Fluval Sea Nano LED light, ATO system, etc. While you can use this tank straight out the box it is much better if you add the accessories mentioned above for growing anything other than softies. If you’re looking for a desktop tank that you aware you need to upgrade later on down the road I would say this is for you.

Update:136 days in, been more of an experimental tank, no fish yet... 2 hermits. Used a dead shrimp to cycle, and feeding the tank pellets every so often to keep the BB thriving. Have had a coraline algae outbreak which is great. No water changes until day 136 when i did a massive water change to prep for adding a fish in a week or two. Coraline growth usually means you are safe to add corals, so if youre worried about the stock light, dont be.A pretty neat "all in one" setup, but flawed in a few ways. The return pump is way under powered. The common fix for this is swapping in the cobalt mj606 pump, but this is currently unavailable on Amazon and other large retailers... looks to be discontinued. Secondly they have a relief cut a few inches from the bottom to insure the pump can get water, but i find the pump mainly pulls water thru here completely bypassing the media in chamber one. I used superglue and a piece of plastic cup to seal it off, others have used silicone.Other than that, its a great little setup.

I bought this to set up in my classroom at school as a small reef tank. The light is good enough for some corals, but I upgraded the light for personal preference. It’s a great all in one, but could use some modifications. The pump is not very strong, so the flow is very low. It needs to be more to be able to grow many corals. Zoas and mushrooms are probably the best for this tank. Mine is a mushroom only tank. It’s really too small for any fish. Even if it does recommend some. Mostly just snails and hermits could survive in this.If you are limited on space and just need and want a small tank without fish this is perfect. It has potential to be a good and fun tank, but I would get something bigger than the 5 gallon one if you have the space. A lot more potential.

This was my first salt water tank, was easy to set up and everything worked great right out the box. I added some extra filtration and a hang on fuge and it worked great as a nano reef tank until I upgraded to my 40. Light puts out a good 100s range on par I'd i remember correctly so good for low/medium light coral. And the pump produces decent flow. I still keep it as a hospital tank. Definetly get a small ato as it does allow considerable evap.

Well, first thing that I do not like is the return pump power head. It is too small and not strong enough to circulate the way that it should, it also fits VERY snuggly in the back of the tank in it's hidden little spot.. Secondly, The light has to be removed to get into the tank and has to be crewed on and off with a tiny metal screw. PITA.. Thirdly, The all in one black media block that houses the bio media and charcoal bag is so large that it is very tight and sits too low in the return in the back of the tank so that the water rolls over it and does not get filtered. Lastly, the return area where the pump is housed in the back is too skinny/small to fit a heater SO you have to put it in the tank. The reason you buy a tank with the hidden media area is so that you do not have to see such things in your main tank area. I will have to also add a power head in the main tank too. I'm so disappointed in this tank. I would NEVER suggest this to a friend who wants a salt water tank. It may be OK for fresh fish or goldfish or for any fish that do not need good water flow and circulation. Go with the fluval Flex bow tank as an option for a nano salt water tank IF you like fluval products.

I absolutely love this tank! I upgraded to this tank from a Marineland Portrait 5g, which had a smaller footprint but more vertical height. The Evo has the same capacity but seems like a much bigger tank than the Portrait. Having a long narrow profile gives my fish a whole lot more room to zip around and be happy. Also there is more floor space to spread out the live rock and create a cool scape. The stock pump is high quality but opted to use it in the tank to circulate water. I put it opposite the return pump and it creates awesome flow. Even better is it is much less intrusive and noticeable than a powerhead and it was essentially free!I used an Aquatop Np302 and the tubing from the Portrait as my return pump. The Aquatop is under the media basket sitting on its side (The sponge media holder doesn't sit all the way down on the shelf but thats not a problem) and the hose snakes under the divider and up to the outlet. This way the big tetra 50w heater I have fits in the return pump compartment with no problem. I originally wanted to get the Aqueon 600 but its a little more pricey than other small pumps and I would've had to get a new heater too because that pump and heater combo wouldn't fit in the back together. Not a fan of the filtration sponge. I had some leftover aquarium silicon from plugging the two holes in the back and some thin plexiglass and made an in tank basket which was pretty easy but well have to see how well it works. Still waiting for the silicone to cure.I don't have any experience with high end lights as I only used the stock light on the Portrait but I'm going to stick with the stock Evo light until I need something more powerful. Its plenty bright and penetrates to the bottom lighting up all the nooks and crannies. I plan on plenty invertebrates and softies only so I may never need to upgrade..... unless I need some programability and swanky effects like the Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light, 18.Nothing to complain about with this tank at all...yet
