Impressive shoe box! It has quality worksmanship and is really a showpiece for the task it is intended. I have plenty of room for ALL the different waxes, full size brushes and miscellaneous cloths to finish the polishing. The wood is 1st class. Unfortunately, my box has a fissure longitude wise across the top. I didn't notice it when I unpacked it, I stocked it and put it on the shelf in my garage. I suggest you inspect yours as soon as it arrives. MMine is a manufacturing defect. Since it is so sturdy, I believe it will outlive me. Pricey and worth it, but upset about the crack on the lid...otherwise a 5 star!

It is perfect for just me alone but if you are ordering for more than one family member to use it very well could be too small for all family members shoe shine upkeep.

I received a similar chest from my dad when I was a young man, and this one was just gifted to my son. Sturdy construction and elegant look...honestly, I may retire my original one and order another one of these for me.

The first box that arrived was split on the top. The return was pretty easy, only to get the next one with the hinges not tightened. The screws were sticking out and not even screwed in. I expected better quality since this was one of the more expensive ones I found. I thought higher price would mean a better quality. In this case, it means better ideas on design but executed poorly. Not much attention to little things like not sending a broken box or not even screwing in the hinge screws very well. Pretty disappointed.
