This model appears to be almost exactly the same as the Doyle. The only difference I could see is the badge and color. All the specs and casting seem to be the same. Side by side they seem to be the same but much better price on the Forward. It is in my opinion the best vise per dollar you can get if you can find it on sale.

Excellent vice. Nice and heavy, jaws keep parallel even when clamping on one side of the jaws. Lots of clamping force. It has a nice wide back flat platten for hammering.

This vise is impressively heavy, which speaks to its solid construction and durability. It arrived fully assembled, and despite some rough handling during shipping, the vise itself was completely undamaged—an indication of its quality. The 360-degree swivel base operates smoothly, locking into place without any issues. I also found the screw for the slide bar to have an expected amount of free play, making adjustments easy. The jaw plates are well-textured, providing a solid grip, and the pipe jaws perform just as effectively. One minor cosmetic issue was the rubber bump stops on the handle, which had some white styrofoam embedded in them, but this doesn't affect the vise’s performance.Overall, this is a well-made, sturdy tool that meets expectations for an vise.

Got this and checked it out, I have used it for light purposes. But it will take some work to properly install this, the book recommends 18in x 18in x 2in reinforcements for your workbench. I'm super excited to have this available for future projects. Open-close action is smooth, the vice can rotate on its base, locking screws for rotation are easy to operate and move smoothly.

I have a lot of vises.... anyone who uses these knows... the key is the jaw width and throat depth.... chose one that fits your work best... here we have 5.5" at 3.7" depth... a common mid size... some might require a deeper depth.... they all produce tremendous clamping force, here 11K lbsIt has a decent anvil size.... finish is OK, no corrosion, (keep it lubed!) smoother gear, easy swivel... and I really like the pipe holder, great for plumbing task... used it to remove a bunch of fittings off 1" brass pipe, much easier than w o a viseif u want a brand name, about this size, expect to pay 2-3x this price point... so the value is very impressive... specially for the DIY or lite user.... overall, hard to find a flaw here, impressive value....5 starsbeware, its heavy, about 50lbs in the box

I recently discovered this brand of vises when I was looking for one, and have been totally happy with that one, and now this one as well. As I was researching, it seems that "ductile steel" is more durable than the typical run of the mill cast iron you see in vises now. It arrived in a heavy duty cardboard box, well packed in form fitting foam. Unpacking it, I found some (what I think is) light black grease smudged randomly on the paint like you can see if you look at the product page. A simple paper towel wiped it off. They included four bolts, washers and nuts for mounting, but of course it depends on your surface if you need longer or shorter. The paint job was well done, and it has a nice, large anvil. They paid attention to little details too, like putting rubber washers on both ends of the handle so when it slides to the other side, it doesn't make that clanking sound. The corners and edges of the jaws are nice and square.I'm curious and want to learn a little about the company when I discover a new brand. There isn't a lot of information on this company here or even their web page, no addresses, countries or phone numbers with area codes. Just an email address. I find that a little odd, but did manage to find them on a well known social media platform, and it says "FORWARDVISE Bench Vise Manufacture Co. Ltd, was established in 1950, it becomes the world largest Vise manufacturer and the founder of China National Standard. The company has over 60 years professional" But that was about all I could find without making this a major project.I do appreciate quality tools and always am willing to pay more for that quality. Here, I really didn't have to though, it's more or less in line with the alternatives unless you go really low end. I am very happy with this vise (as well as my other vise from them), and am happy to say that I have nothing to complain about. In fact, I was so happy with these two, that I also got one for my drill press. I think you'll be pleased as well.
