It was great for a couple of weeks, but I bumped my lens lightly against a branch as I turned my head and it broke in half and fell off. The original was much stronger than this. It's cheap, light plastic.

Shipping is quite slow but worth it. Lens shade performs as the original on Nikon 28-300mm zoom.

This item gets used regularly on my 28-300 zoom. It is holding up well and I would buy it again. I have probably taken well over 5,000 photos using it on the Nikon 28-300 in just a couple months. Good value for the money and seems to be fairly durable, though, again, I have only had it a couple months, but the 28-300 has become one of my go-to lenses.

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm F/3.5-5.6g ED VR lens is truly a great all-around, travel lens. Although I have several Nikon lenses, this one is my 'go to' lens. However, there is one major fault to this otherwise wonderful lens that everyone I know complains about - the poor design of lens hood interface. As a result, it matters not if one uses a genuine Nikon HB-50 lens hood or a Chinese knock-off, the connecting plastic interface will in time wear down. If you don't lose it first, the lens hood will be soon falling off the lens with irritating frequency. So much so, it makes as much sense to order two or more cheap lens hoods rather than shelling much more for one Nikon replacement. I just wish someone would come out with a metal replacement. I would be willing to pay a premium for something truly durable.

Comparing to a genuine Nikon version, this one has a thinner plastic, the finishing is a little bit rough on the edges. It is also a touch inconvenient to mount on, if I wanted to do ON and OFF quickly. Otherwise, this is a fully functional hood for this lens. Then again, a genuine Nikon version seems a bit over priced.

This lens hood fits perfectly. I was tired of buying the expensive Nikon HB-50 hood. It is a large lens hood and is easily damaged when installed.

If anything, these are sturdier than the Nikon product and fit perfectly. I bought 2 more and that tells you how I view them!

Fits fine on the 28-300. The material isn't quite as think as the original Nikon hood, but this is considerably cheaper and functional.Would buy again rather than spend the extra $ on the Nikon hood.

Just received this. Compared it to original Nikon lens hood, and attached same to my Nikon lens. This product is an EXACT match. It fits absolutely perfectly. Aside from the printing on the lens hood, I cannot tell the difference between this and the original which came with the lens.Excellent product!
