  • Reduces lens flare and keeps stray light from hitting lens
  • Easily mounts onto lens bayonet and provides the front element extra protection
  • Replacement lens hood made from high impact plastic
  • 24 month limited warranty

Lens hoods extend and shade the end of lens preventing unwanted light straying into the lens. Since the end of the lens is extended, you get the benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Each dedicated lens hood was specifically created to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. Photographers can easily attach the lens hood on the dedicated bayonet mount, and after usage mount the lens hood on the lens in reverse for a compact storage solution.

Nice snug fit and good quality plastic, especially for the price.

I have been looking for a short lens hood for a while, all the ones I have purchased in the past caused a lot of corner vignetting because of their length. I purchased it for my Canon EFS 18-55mm lens. This one is the perfect length for all lens settings from 18mm to 55mm. It also works on my Canon EF 28-80mm lens. In order to use this hood, be sure to check which model lens you have, it will work with Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm 1:35.5.5-5.6 IS II (see photo) and Canon Zoo Lens EF 28-80mm 1:35.5-5.6 IV (not shown), do not use with Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm 1:35.5.5-.5.6 IS STM. You can use with or without a lens filter, if using a filter there is no need to remove it, you can also use the 58mm lens cap that comes with the lens without remove the hood. The hood is reversible. I do recommend.

It is what it is. I've had this for about 2 years now and it is cheap and works as intended. I bought it for my Canon T3i and it fits perfectly. Prevents scratches to the lens if I accidently bump into corners or walls. I've never dropped my camera with this on so I can't say how much it would protect in those cases but as far as minor accidents are concerned, it is good protection to the front elements of your camera. Doesn't do much in terms of preventing sun glares, but that is not what I bought it for so I won't comment on that. Be sure it will fit your camera before you buy!Pro:- incredibly cheap, no point in buying canon branded lens hoods for almost 5 times the price- does what is supposed to do (protect against bumps and accidents)- sturdy enough, has not broken on me yetCons:- won't really do anything for glare

Cierre de bayoneta que Encaja perfectamente en el 18-55. No es necesario que sea el original para estas cosas, es un trozo de plastico bien acabado, y cumple su función perfectamente. tiempo de envio normal y muy buen precio.Muy recomendable.

So I got this for my Canon T3i and it fits great! It is reversible in order to store it easier and it seems to work great. You can put this on while the lens cap is on the lens and it doesn't bother it at all. It definitely adds to a better "look" on your camera and is quite inexpensive. I can't find any reason why not to buy this. I was considering the Canon lens hood, but when I came upon this one I instantly bought it :D. Great lens hood for your money and you won't be disappointed with it! Aside from looking great on the camera, blocking the sun a bit, and being able to have the lens cap on at the same time it also makes your manual focus easier to use. How ? Well when you place this on your lens it goes right where the manual focus lens gets rotated, thus it makes it easier and more convenient to use the manual focus on your DSLR. I rate this product 5 stars out of 5.I hope this review helped you out!

I was a little skeptical when deciding whether or not to order this hood. I own two Genuine Canon Hoods: ES-71 II (50mm f/1.4) and the ET-60 (50-250mm). The Fotodiox looks and feels very similar to the ET-60. It's hard to tell that the Fotodiox isn't made by Canon except for the tell tale use of the word "For" printed on the Fotodiox hood. My Canon ES-71 II hood has an inner felt lining which neither the Canon ET-60 nor the Fotodiox for Canon EW-60C have. This Fotodiox hood securely fits on the hood mount of my Canon T1i and also functions when attaching the hood in reverse for storage. I was concerned that this hood would only fit on the end of the lens, but I use UV Filters and didn't want to take those off. The Fotodiox hood fits securely to the lens, and fits similarly to my ET-60 hood. The hood is very short, and needs to be to prevent vignetting of the image. I have seen some people complain that the hood isn't very long, but, the 18-55mm lens needs a short hood.To summarize, this Fotodiox looks and feels like a Genuine Canon hood. It doesn't feel overly flimsy, and the fit is nice and tight on the lens. I paid $5 total for this including shipping (no tax). A lens hood is an easy way to make your lens look and feel more professional, giving you extra confidence when you shoot. Naturally it blocks sun flares and protects your lens.I've only had this hood for 2 days, if it breaks under normal use I will update my review.

If you are planning to buy the lens hood that Canon offers for the 18-55 kit lens, save yourself $20 and buy this one instead. Also buy, if you don't already have it, a lens cap that opens by pinching the center. The lens cap that you pinch the sides does not work with this or any other lens hood.I can't imagine why Canon charges so much for a lens hood for the 18-55 kit lens that is the same as this one for about $4. I am giving it 5 because it seems well made, looks good, fits nicely (though it takes a little tinkering to figure out how to lock it in place the first time you put it on), and is a very good value compared to the identical Canon hood. After ordering the hood I read a review of the 18-55 lens on dpreview, a very popular and respected source of evaluations of cameras and lenses, the reviewer took Canon to task for offering a lens hood for this lens that was too short to do a good job of shading and protecting the lens. However, reading user comments about deeper hoods, vignetting is often mentioned as a problem when used on wide angle lens. It was mentioned when shooting with the lens between 18-24 you can get vignetting showing up in the photo, even though you wouldn't know it when looking through the view finder. My inclination is to continue to use this lens until I have evidence that something different is needed.
