I tried using with raw russet potatoes and believe the blades would bend. Microwaved the potatoes for 2 minutes and no problem.

I bought this to use on sweet potatoes but it's not sharp enough to get through them. I'm going to keep it because it did go through a red potato easy enough, and I can see it being useful for onions as well.
