The standard "step one" is size 60/90, but this extra coarse size works really well if your stones are extra rough.

I use this on west Texas agates and jasper and it works so much better and faster than the 60/90.Instead of months of tumbling it’s now just a few weeks. I highly recommend for using on those extrahard rocks.

46/70 is not your typical stage 1 tumbling grit. I'ts not carried by very many suppliers and can be hard to find. Fundamental Rockhound had this grit immediately available at a reasonable price and I received it quickly. Easy Peasy.

It is as coarse as advertised. For those of you who tumble rocks it puts the smooth on your initial cycle batch of rocks quite well. I do not know if the extra coarse grit impacts softer rocks negatively. Probably not but something to consider if you are concerned about that sort of thing.
