Solid chain. I had to hammer the pins through the chain due to the powder coat thickness (best I could tell). Ended up working out just fine, but I did need to use a hammer to put it together. Minus 1 star for that because a half star is not an option.

We're currently in the process of rebuilding our old 24-ft gooseneck. We basically stripped down to the frame and are starting from scratch, even replacing the safety chains. We opted to try these Lechansen ASTM G80 safety chains. We were not disappointed; these far exceed the capacity of the original 5/16” breakaway safety chains.The ASTM (American Society of Testing & Materials) rating says these chains can be used for overhead lifting, rigging and tie down applications. These 3/8” chains have a functional working load limit of 7100lbs and a breaking force of over 28,000 lbs per chain. With any safety device being only as good as its weakest link, Lechansen included G80 rated clevis snap hooks and weld-on safety chain retainers. These have a spring-loaded steel retainer to keep the clevis hooks attached to the tow vehicle. The retainers are heavy duty with an audible “snap” when they close. We opted to use the existing safety chain retainers on the trailer. Installation was quick and easy. Lechansen included a tag with a handwritten rating of the chain and ASTM classification (I think this is good to keep for the rebuild records on our trailer). The yellow galvanized finish has not shown any wear from road vibration or corrosion from deicer chemicals used on the roads. These chains are about 3ft long and heavy! There is plenty of length for different trailer configurations or heights.The quality and completeness of this kit from Lechansen is an excellent value. It comes with all the necessary hardware for installation and meets the requirements for tow vehicle and trailer safety. They are a great option for any trailer, gooseneck or fifth wheel. The combined capacity of both chains provides peace of mind regarding their ability to keep the tow vehicle and trailer connected during an emergency.

Works great for securing the 80kw generators I haul, for installations. The chains work well with my current binders, and slings. So far, so good. Good chains.

These chains work well for small cargo applications. They are easy to use, sturdy, and lightweight. They include red hooks to make the setup simple. Overall, a good choice, but be sure to take measurements first to ensure they work for you.

I've always got a use for chains and hooks. I have a fleet of trailers and equipment. Because of this I only buy the stuff that is properly stamped with the correct weight rating for my equipment. Be careful of other sellers that don't have clearly stamped products. Just because it is gold zinc plating doesn't make it a load rated chain or hook.

Nice beefy chain, but black color must be something besides paint because it got rusted the first time it got wet. I expected better for the price.

I’ve been rebuilding a small enclosed cargo trailer. For whatever reason the original safety chains were gone so I ordered these. I will use them but they’re really a heavier chain than I need. We have several other trailers including a two horse trailer and a large flatbed trailer. I may switch these out for the ones on the horse trailer.If you need safety chains on a trailer, and these aren’t too heavy, I definitely recommend them. The Clovis hooks are very good quality and the weld on links are nice, installed properly, will do a good job.My rating system:5 stars..... Very good, recommended.4 stars.....
