My sister told me the shovel would break the first time I used it, but she was wrong. She even started using it. It is lightweight and hers was too heavy for me. It was and still is very sturdy. It can cut through heavy snow as well as ice. It is perfect for women who can’t hold the heavier shovels.

Not sending it back because it would be impossible to take apart. But it's wobbly and there is no tightening the screws. That's not the problem. My boyfriend is going to try to fix it somehow but he hasn't done it yet. Might be next season before I get a chance to actually use this shovel.

I have had a similar but much wider shovel for probably close to 50 years which has never let me down.I needed a narrower but also lightweight and sturdy shovel for problem paths and this one is fits the bill perfectly.

We bought this shovel because it doesn't have that metal strip on the edge of the shovel. It's very sturdy and light weight.

This shovel is the most convenient shovel I've reviewed. I was looking for a flat snow shovel, because it is convenient. My old shovel lasted for many years but the plastic rubbed out on the concrete during the cleaning and it was time to replace it. I have already tested it in the past snowfall and nothing better can be found. Let's see how long it will last.

This is the perfect shovel for me, an active 68-year-old woman. It's very lightweight but sturdy, with a good sharp edge for cleaning the sidewalk down to the surface. The snow doesn't stick--just slides right off, so I'm not carrying snow back for the next shovel-full, as with some other shovels.

I just received this shovel and so far it works well in light fluffy snow and -3 Celsius. I hope it holds up with ‘wet’ snow it the milder temperatures when the snow is sticky. The shovel head seems to have a little ‘play’ where it is attached to the handle so I am hoping this won’t be a problem in the future.

Lightweight, but just after a few uses the red blade is bent and ruff on the edges.

When it comes to shoveling snow or raking leaves, you move the weight of the tool as much as the weight of the debris. Most show shovels nowadays are heavy duty, which means too heavy. What I like is a cheap shovel with a plastic blade and a light handle. (I have an ice-chopper, for when I get in trouble.)This is a simple shovel, better than most, but not as good as the two cheapos that I have been using for the past decade. Searching in local stores and online, I could not find another shovel as good as the Garant.Unfortunately, the wood handle is longer and thicker than on my old shovels, adding weight. They probably needed the extra thickness to permit the extra length. As with my old shovels, the Garant handle slips into a socket in the blade. A screw through the plastic secured my old blades. On the Garant, there is a fancy, click-in fastener, no place for a screw. If I could get the Garant blade out, I still I could not use my old handles. (They are perfectly OK, just worn down blades - I could not find replacement blades, either.)To make things worse, there were several stickers on the blade and handle. I was not able to completely remove the one on the handle, even with goo gone.

I use this shovel for leaves. I live in a souther state so I don't have snow but if you have a lot of leaves to pick up this is excellent, lightweight and a lot of leaves will fit on it.

I got tired of looking for shovels around where I live here in Chicago. I'd like to patronize my local businesses for items like this but no stores I've found carry shovels like this with this quality. So I ordered 2 from Amazon and I couldn't be happier. They've gotten a lot of use this winter. THey are very sturdy, have a solid ash wood handle and the handle is about 5 inches longer (38'total) than my old shovels. A definite winner.
