The Forerunner 35 is Garmin's simple solution to gathering biometric training data during the simplest form of endurance training. It's built to be a stand-alone GPS running companion that handles everything from heart rate monitoring to route mapping with no phone or ancillary heart rate strap or footpod needed. Garmin assures us that you can "Just put on the Forerunner 35 and go"; however, since it's so unobtrusive and its benefits extend well beyond fitness training, chances are good you'll already have it on. Since that's the case, you can skip step one and proceed directly to "go." The Forerunner 35 dials down the functionality of some of Garmin's more expensive models, resulting in a simplified interface for tracking running and walking without the clutter of multisport features. It's something of a bridge between the vivofit and Forerunner lines, combining biometric and lifestyle data with the added oomph of GPS tracking and route mapping. Compared to the vivoactive, it sacrifices multisport functionality while adding the above-mentioned heart rate monitor. If you're primarily a pedestrian athlete, then the vivoactive's golf, swim, and cycling modes won't be missed. The heart rate monitor will prove invaluable, though, both during training sessions and your everyday life. While you're logging workouts, the Forerunner 35's GPS capabilities track distance and speed while mapping the route. While these features do extend to time in the saddle, the unit is designed primarily for running. The addition of Garmin Move IQ means the Forerunner 35 transitions seamlessly from running to walking while keeping a constant eye on steps taken. The optical, wrist-based heart rate monitor is a constant feature, though, and while it may not offer the precision of a trained medical professional constantly checking your pulse, it does keep you abreast of exertion levels including intensity minutes. This lets it manage interval training for you, letting you focus on exertion ...

I put my watch to the test and it performed perfectly. I’ve had my watch for around two years now it’s still really dependable. I charged my watch on July 16 th and now it’s Aug 15 and I still have two bars on the battery. I will say that anyone getting this watch that it has the basic activity tracking but not a whole lot of the extras. For me that is perfect!

I have been using this watch to track regular runs and workouts. The watch and the Garmin Connect app have been excellent. The battery life on the watch is much longer than I expected. I can get several days of battery life even if I am using it daily to track workouts. It has been great to track hiking and running on back country mountain trails. Definitely recommend the Garmin Forerunner 35.

I have had four Fitbit watches. Each lasted about six months to a year, the battery life was limited, the bands were not sturdy and they were crap. Fitbit replaced one without charge. The others were gifts from my daughter. This Garmin however, I purchased for about half the price. It has a better screen, twice the battery life and after a year it continues to operate flawlessly. No complaints. AS for Fitbit, Not Fit.

I was looking to replace my old forerunner and this does a perfect job. It connects to my phone so I can easily get messages. Perfect for tracking quick runs, great for having it when biking to see calls and messages. So light and comfortable to wear. I wish there was a way to easily stop it from buzzing when I am not warning it

Was not receiving text notifications, or when I did they were intermittent. Worked with Amazon Chat to try to resolve. They were very helpful but no luck, so they sent a replacement. Same issue. Then realized two issues. (1) some of my contacts has "Hide alerts" on them because I had swiped left and hid them (moon by there name), so no notifications from them at all. (2) once you open the text app in Iphone the Garmin knows this and no longer notifies you..... Solved all the notification issues! I would have thought Garmin would have included this in their troubleshooting, but alas. Otherwise the watch is great. Very 1990's like regarding user interface. I like this. Not distracted with too many distractions. HR monitors is a little less responsive then chest strap but once stable right on the money. Sleep monitoring works fine and no need to download the data every day like other options. Nice band. Battery life is great. Refurbed version looked like new!

When used only for Heart Rate and time the battery lasts a week or more. With the GPS for a run and letting it sync to satellites the battery runs down quickly, a few hours.Like all Heart Rate measuring devices it tries hard but can only be so accurate. It's as good as any could possibly be.The box didn't come with a very detailed guide, just the basic on how to set it up, but that can be found online. It does have a function that monitors your activity and if you sit around lazy it will vibrate and tell you to get up and move. That's not the most accurate since it gets shaked sometimes and thinks you're doing things. But it's a good function since I'd sit around all day otherwise.I can't really advise about the tracked runs and SMS connection. I don't use that at the moment. But the functions I've used are really helpful and really good.

I bought my Garmin Forerunner watch refurbished and it works perfectly. I love the cheerful lime-green color and large display. I receive my text messages and keep my appointments through the sync feature. When I work out, I keep track of my heart rate so I know when I am getting a good workout that is meeting my goals. Each day, I check my steps to reach my 10,000 step goal. It's very motivating! I highly recommend this watch and am glad I saved money by buying it refurbished.

I just wear the watch to work, and I couldn't imagine a more perfect watch for a nurse. The battery lasts for over a month with the GPS turned off. "If you're not going to use the super accurate GPS, why get a Garmin," you ask?1. The step counter is very reliable. I have used the watch with the GPS both off and on when I go on a loop run, and the step counter manages to calculate the exact same distance as the GPS. Granted I can't track the route in the Garmin Connect app without the GPS on, but I don't really care when I'm running a loop.2. The display is "always on." No flipping your wrist up hard - no harder - to get the display to turn on. This is huge for me since I need to look at the display when my hands are in weird positions providing patient care.3. The digital clock shows military (or healthcare, whichever you prefer) time. My Samsung Galaxy watch doesn't. Tsk tsk Samsung.4. Alarm is easy to access and I can set multiple alarms. Makeshift "timer" is just three clicks of the little running man button. (This will start timing your 'indoor run,' which you can end as soon as you've competed your task to be timed.) There is no actual timer that I have found on this Garmin.5. As I mentioned above, the battery life lasts forever. Seriously 6-8 weeks is normal. Once I even got it to last for 3 months. It's just crazy. The Samsung, tsk, lasts less than a day.I'm not reviewing all of the great features I don't regularly use, because I feel I can't do them justice. But, if you like, this watch also shows email, text, and weather notifications using bluetooth, has a very awesome GPS that quickly maps a run on your phone, and a nifty app that allows you to track your sleep. I've used all the features in the past but find it too distracting at work to get a notification everytime some spam hits my inbox. And although this watch is reasonably comfortable, sleeping with a watch on just isn't my jam.So there you have it, my long overdue review of this very useful watch tool.

The best thing about this watch is the battery life. It'll last me about 6 days straight, and that's with using it 3-4 times a week, which uses the GPS function. By the 6th day the watch will be on the last bar, but still, that is a very good battery life. A full charge only takes about 1 hour. Getting GPS signal-when used for outdoor running or walking-can take anywhere from 30 seconds, to 10 seconds. While running, the running pace is pretty accurate. All other functions described on the web page are exactly what you get. It's a comfortable watch to wear. And probably the best thing is that the Garmin Connect app-once you download to your phone-will break everything down; your caloric intake (resting and active), sleep amount, beat per minute of your heart, total distance of miles ran, how many steps you took, and several other workout pieces of information. Bottom line is this; it's a refurbished watch that sells for almost half for a brand new watch sells for. So, this half off watch is definitely worth the value if you have never bought a Garmin, and don't want to spend almost 200 dollars, before you know this was a good workout investment. So far, Yes, i'm pleased with my Garmin. Gotta go, it's beer thirty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
