Difficulty with establishing and keeping the tension on the chainsaw's chain at times.

Good buy. I've only used the 8" bar which cut thru live 6" diameter trees just fine. Batteries last a good bit, awesome that I can use all my bigger 18v makita batteries. Frankly, for just the two batteries it's a good deal. Yes, lots of plastic, but I don't know if it's much different than most tools made nowadays.*** user manual is pitiful. Make sure to buy bar and chain oil and fill up the reservoir before using. This is not noted Anywhere in the "manual".

I must admit, this was initially a bit of an impulse item. I DO have a couple of other gas powered chain saws that do any necessary heavy lifting. However, the are large, loud, and often inconvenient for smaller jobs. Instead, I would use a small pruning saw. This is very compact, incredibly powerful, extraordinarily convenient, and able to fit in some of the smallest work spaces. Two blades, both a six and eight inch are included. My initial inclination was to mount up the eight inch blade. However, the saw will no longer fit in the plastic case with the eight inch blade attached. Also, the six inch blade is easier to work with in tight spaces and makes short work of any limbs up to forearm sized. I can’t see that there would be any significant advantage to using the larger blade. For large trees, there is still no replacement for a gas powered saw. However, in places where I would previously have used a hand pruning saw, this electric model is absolutely the way to go. You don’t need to pull the blade back and forth as you would with a hand saw and some of the spaces where I am pruning just don’t easily allow the use of a hand saw. It is SO much easier and SO much faster. The included battery pack provides ample work time, probably 20-30 minutes of (non-continuous) use as I was doing spring clean-up. I swapped to the second battery and finished the job in less than an hour. It would have easily been a half-day project if done manually.I will give two tips for users. The first is that when charging the battery, the instructions state that the battery is charged when three green bars are visible on the battery pack. This is only partially accurate. The charge is actually complete when the light on the AC adapter changes from red to green. When you have three bars on the battery pack, it is MOSTLY full, but not completely full. The second tip is that there is a small breather hole on the top of the bar/chain oil reservoir. When STORING the saw in its carry case, that hold is positioned DOWN. Overnight, any oil remaining in the reservoir WILL leak out into the plastic carry case. Just make sure that the oil is emptied before storing the saw in the case for any significant amount to time. Thankfully, there wasn’t much oil in the saw when I made this error. Learn from my experiences!Overall, this is a great product. I am SO thankful that I took the chance at something which initially seemed impulsive and redundant. I will get lots of use around our home since there always seems to be pruning or clean-up necessary. It works great, cuts time, stores easily, and is a great value.

I just got this saw & used it for an hour or so, so far.I am very pleased with this particular saw. It operates smoothly, cuts quickly, the oil system works great, it has good power & seems well built. More usage time will tell how good a saw this is but right now I highly recommend purchasing this saw. A really nice saw.

Directions are very poorly written. After finally being able to change the blade, it worked fine. Much time wasted figuring out how to change blades!!

Ordered the GARTOL Mini Chainsaw due to the multiple chain size option and this being battery operated. This kit arrived in good condition. I did notice a bit of an odd smell when opening the plastic case. Not a plastic smell, kind of tough to identify. The hard plastic case contained all items you receive:Chainsaw UnitTwo 20V batteriesBattery ChargerChain Guard8-inch heat-treated manganese steel chain6-inch heat-treated manganese steel chain (installed on unit upon receipt)Instruction ManualBatteries included charged up pretty quick and like that it indicates designed to work with Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries as well. Not that bad to change the chain size. Note that you can only store the unit if using the 6” chain. 8” would make the unit too long if trying to store in the case, you would need to remove.Had the recent opportunity to put this to the test. Living in the northeast, weather is so unpredictable. Recent ice and wind storm caused a lot of tree damage where I live. This thing was much more powerful than expected. I had to cut up limbs that already fell to the ground and it cut with ease. Also had to climb up part of the tree to cut some larger branches that broke due to weight of ice but not enough to drop. Worked like a charm. So easy to use and lightweight. No issue with the chain during use. The chain guard helps reduce the wood chips coming back at you.Biggest complaint on this product would be the instruction manual. Really would recommend companies have someone review them before releasing. Not a word about needing to add oil. I happen to have chain oil on hand for my other chainsaw so that is what I used.Really like this product and would recommend. Price was reduced at time of writing this review so better deal.
