Ill never buy plastic bottles again. Casting aluminum should be normal for everyone to do. This set up is pretty basic, but it got me into it. I have since built better tools and got more things to cast, but the furnace is still going strong.

Poor design of the Melting pot crumbled apart 3 hours in to the first use. Oven brick on the bottom of oven stuck to the melting pot before every pour and was very scary banging it off the pot witch molting copper in there

I only gave four stars because the crucible was damaged as seen in photo.. it must have came from factory this way because the box was not damaged. I can still use it but it just won't hold full amount of product to be smelted. Other than that I am happy with it. Doesn't take long to melt product.

I have used this smelter twice now since I've bought it. And I'm VERY disappointed with it! It states that it will melt copper and aluminum. And should melt brass as well (brass melts at 1700 degrees). The Only thing it will melt is aluminum! If i would have kept the box i would have returned it immediately! I have let the smelter run for 2 12 hours at full blast and it will not melt! If I could give this 0 stars I would! VERY VERY VERY disappointed!!!

I am new to smelting so did alot of research before i bought this. i preheated the mold/crucible as said on the internet and was careful when doing everything. that being said the fireproof cotton on the lid has begun to come off after about 7 hours of using it. ( spread out over a few days.) apart from that the system is great. they say 15-20 minutes to melt metal however i ended up needing an average of 35-45 minutes. again i am new so it could be me. so far i have only used it for aluminum so again maybe 15-20 minutes would work for something like gold or lead. bottom line is i am sure there are better, but this is a great product although the paint begins to burn off so if your a perfectionist, get an electric one.
