I would have given this carrier 5 stars but the build quality doesn’t warrant it. Three of the four upright pieces are welded out of square and the hinges on the top strap were loose. It would be a second in most factories. That said, the base is solid, the metal is good, the paint job is tough and it locks a 5 gallon Midwest can in tight. I mounted it on the rear bumper of a travel trailer using the standard 3/8x4x7” u-bolts. The pre-drilled holes are 1/4” and the pre-drilled are not 4” apart, they’re 4.5”, so some modification was needed.

Welding is not properly grinded off smoof .sharp pieces that will cut you on all corners..welding has not been smooth out during manufacturing and has been painted over all bad welding .. terrible craftsman ship .pieces is not welded on straight

From the reviews I new this jerry can mount was hit or miss, quality wise. The one I got had some scratches on it and there was a little rust on the latch that goes over the top, but an seven dollar can of paint fixes that. The assembly is also a little off, meaning the bars are welded on slightly crooked, nothing you really notice just looking at it, but you definitely notice when you're mounting it.As other's have mentioned there is gap between the can and the holder. The gap on mine was about 3/8" all the way around. I bought some adhesive backed neoprene and that fixed the problem. Personally this is a plus for me because when I go off road it'll keep the can from rattling (metal on metal).For the price I'm not complaining. The welds seem sturdy enough, time will tell, but again if you have the ability to weld it's an easy fix if they break. For nearly half the price of a smitty built I think this is a good deal if you're trying to save a few bucks.

Great can holder. Fits NATO cans perfectly. Base will fit Scepter 5 gallon jugs as well, not sure why some people said they don't fit, maybe they've changed the product? The original strap needs to be modified for the Scepters, or just make one. Paint quality is good overall, I sprayed some additional paint down into the cavities between the welded sections. Hard to beat this holder for the price.
