This set of spouts has more versatility than usual, but not quite universal. Fitting 1, 2, 5 and 10 gallon does not say much if they are all made by the same manufacturer. What universal should mean is that it works with different manufacturers. So: the wider thread spaced cap fit my old Spector 5 gallon just fine. It fit my Midwest 1,2 and 5 gallon cans but was a little snug and took effort to screw on. It does not fit my Briggs and Stratton 5 gallon. The Specter is 40mm wide, Midwest is 42mm wide, and Briggs and Stratton is 44mm wide, all with 7mm thread pitch. The narrower thread cap fit my Blitz (2 and 5 gallon) very nicely. One of the main things about this cap is that it is shorter. Longer caps have too much distance between the top of the can and the cap causing it to leak. The Blitz is 44mm wide and has a 5mm thread pitch. Neither cap was close for my old Sears which had a 50mm mouth.Another dimension to the versatility is how you can use them on the same can. There are two end of spout caps provided– one top hat shaped and the other with a loop that keeps it from getting lost. The top hat cap screwed on the end of the spout just fine. The other did not. Moreover, the top hat shaped cap can be use for transport by inverting the spout so that it goes into the can, and then squeezing the top hat cap between the spout and the ring. This is similar to some old spouts I had from the early 2000s. That way, as you transport the gas the spouts won’t be banged around causing them to break (a lesson learned by having 5 gallons of gas sloshing in the back of my truck). An uncertainty is the type of material is used for the gaskets and whether it breaks down in gas (nitrile does not, most rubber does). Time will tell. At about $3 per can this represents a reasonable value, but only if you have a lot of cans.I did not use the air vent or the other non-fitting spout cap. These are just other places for gas to leak and VOC to escape (and why EPA/CARB don’t allow them). Please use this product responsibly and make sure to close them.

I never have seen a replacement nozzle in a auto parts store or any other store. I asked a friend if he had and he said no he hadn't either. I said I'm going to check Amazon, if anyone has them they will know. I looked, I found. I ordered. I receiving them I repaired 4 cans I had with broken spouts. My friend after seeing them immediately ordered him a set too.
