Okay, the manufacturer reached out to me after I left the original review. Apparently, they included the instructions for a reason. And that explained how to turn it on without the remote.I still have problems with the power cord falling out of the back, but that seems to be related to my arthritis. I just don't have the strength to push the end in far enough for it to stay there. Whenever I have a guest that can push it in, I have them do it and things work well. I still think it could have been designed better, but I'm also used to using the USB interfaces which work easier for me.Bottom line, it does play cds and mp3s for me, which is what I wanted. As long as you read the instructions, you should be okay.I wanted something to play audiobooks and music cds that didn't involve carrying around a small player. This seemed ideal. I have to agree with reviewer who is blind and had a difficult time working the machine. I'm not blind, but I find it strange that I need to use the remote to turn it on for example.However, my biggest problem is the power cord. It falls out if you breathe too close to the machine. I have had literally hundreds of appliances in my lifetime and I've never had such a bad power cord. I push it all the way in and still, it falls out. I walk past the machine as it is playing, and the power cord falls out. Short of gluing it in, I don't know what to do.Honestly, I wouldn't buy another item from this manufacturer. It isn't worth the aggravation.

Instructions seem to be written be someone with English as a second language skill set. Difficult to understand the instructions on how to program radio channels with the directions no clear at all

I use this unit to play CDs at night. It does that very well with one exception -- the bright blue light that shines all the time when the unit is playing AND there's no way to turn it off. Improved instructions for the unit would be nice. I would definitely buy this item again.

I tried and tried to get it to work. My grandson age 23 got it to work once. I just can't get it working. The keys don't function. I am returning it. So disappointed. I liked the remote feature and its color.

This product works well with cds, fm/am tuner, Bluetooth, and usb media. The speakers have a decent sound quality, but it’s not made for loud pumping noise. Overall easy to use and my grandmother was happy with this purchase.
