This fits perfect and is at a much better price then other brands. This allows you to add a dual pull breaker to the upper right of your panel and connect a dual pull breaker to a generator outlet on the outside of your home. Here would be the typical scenario when you have a power outage(once you have this installed and you install a dual pull breaker in the upper right of panel connected to your generator):1) Turn the main 200A breaker off2) Now that the main is off you will be able to slide this up3) Only now will you be able to turn the dual pull breaker4) Turn off all the breakers that feed areas of your home you don't want running on generator or don't have enough capacity to run.5) Connect and start your generator outside your home. This gives you the flexibility to power any circuit you would like in your home. An alternative would be to put a sub-panel in for your generator and specifically power only those circuits but that requires much more effort. I think this is a great solution to be prepared for generator use.

We only received the two metal plates and screws. No instructions, no drill bit, ,no stickers, no zip ties (not sure what they are for anyway). The plates required some significant reshaping with a grinder to get to fix correctly, but it does work.

The leg that interferes with the master was about 1/16" too long for my panel. When my generator breaker was in the off position that leg that blocks the master breaker was not completely out of the way. In essence, my generator breaker and master breaker are closer together by 1/16 than this interlock kit was designed for. A little grinding solved the issue.Second mod was that I did not want to drill my panel as this would make my panel fail inspection even if I temporarily removed the interlock because it would leave the holes. My options were to get a second panel for inspections or what I ended up doing which was to buy slightly shorter screws and screw the two pieces together without sandwich in the panel in between. Then I just mounted the interlock to the face of the panel with nano tape. If I need to remove it for inspection I can just twist it off and my panel has not been modified.

This was a fourth of the price of any other breaker interlock on the market, and does the job. Very rigid, looks good, and works just fine. Only problem I had was it was very snug, wouldn't hurt to take a drimmel and shave 1/8" off so it fits perfectly. It works fine how it came, but its very snug. Not a big issue for something you'll use once a year.
